The website outsports.com is a pretty hopping place and there are plenty of gay sportsmen out there. I personally ride a sportsbike and although I don't race, I know a lot of gay men who do.

Telling us that sports are for straight men is just plain dumb. Football and baseball both have huge gay followings as do other sports like soccer, diving and although I don't personally even think it's a sport, figure skating.

And when he was saying that... unlike my "Straight men haven't heard of ONJ" crack, he wasn't kidding.. he was trying to prove to us that he's not gay.

Excuse me, but I know personally tons of both straight men and gay men, and I never met a gay guy who genuinelly cares about sports. I've met gay guys who watched sport because they thought some of the guys were hot, and I've met othrs who watched sorts because they were obsessed with straight-acting and believed they should watch sport to get the complete act going. However, none of these gentlemen genuinelly cared for sports and watched with not ulterior motives besides enjoying the game. I don't know what world you live in, but a gay man who is genuinelly interested in sports is analogous to a straight man who is genuinelly interested in Britney Spear's music and not her body: extremely rare to non-existent.

I am not trying to impress anyone. I don't care what people think of me, to be honest with you. I just read this thread about how this guy is "straight-acting" and then I read his interests and I immediately realized that he is lying about his butchness. It is just an act. I didn't say anything about myself.

No, the sports board died here due to a lack of interest. The few times I checked it there was little talk about sports and a lot about how so and so athelete is hot. I am a member of a sword aficionado board that has a sports section in it, and the sport board is almost as active as the main board. Why? Because most of the members of this sword board are straight men, so the interest in sports is rampant. Interest in swords is already pretty straight in itself.

I doubt that there are many gay guys who post there. My guess is that it would be a much lower figure than the 2% of the male population who are gay. Define huge? I doubt there are more than a few gay men out of the millions in the U.S who would turn their T.Vs on to watch the Super Bowl.

Actually my ex loved sports. He has sports team magnets all over his fridge, football helmets with team logos, all over his house. He is not trying to make an image and is happy to be who he is. He IS genuine when it comes to athletics.
