2 Cellos - Welcome to the Jungle

I watched Thunderstruck and Highway to Hell when DQ sent them via Email. Actually, I watched only half of Thunderstruck before I turned it off. I wrote back to DQ and told him I didn't enjoy them. That was a few days ago, and it finally dawned on my this morning as I lay in bed waiting for my back to allow me to get out of it. It's the "stepping it up several notches" that I didn't like, but I didn't know why. Now I do.

Up until now, they may have hammed it up in a few of their videos, but their music always took centre stage. Luka and Stjepan were just something nice to look at whilst bathing in their music. Now, they are centre stage along with their antics and light spectacles and pyrotechnics. Their music is just a catalyst for it all. It isn't the entertainment anymore.

Perhaps this concert was a simple diversion from the norm, but if it is the way of the future, I may not be much of a fan anymore.

I've had that same feeling --thanks for articulating it so well! -- but I think it only applies to some of their numbers. For example, I don't see it here:

As for antics, I'm getting tired of the slithering around on the back while playing. To me, that was old in Back to the Future.

I keep wanting to hear new stuff. I think so long as they keep rehashing the same tunes, the antics are going to increase, and that just makes me want new stuff more.

Here's something from another direction to add some upbeat softer sound.

There are some sections where it doesn't seem to quite work, but on the whole that was fun!

BTW, what is that instrument seen in the right front in the still image for the vid? It looks like the offspring of a French Horn and a trombone!

I wondered the same thing - I tried checking pics of Bass and Tenor Trombones and horns - didn't find one.

From the size of the mouthpiece and the tone, it is some sort of chromatic tuba. (The pipe sliding up and down allows the note to 'slide' as well.)

I've never seen one before. It has keys instead of valves, but the sound is 'tuba'.

Now, here's why I came here to post: a new, fun video from the Piano Guys. They make grocery shopping fun.

A song they've done before - but this one on their new concert tour.

Mombasa a la Arena di Verona - are you ready for some heavy drum work to get your blood flowing?

Here's one from 6 November - J. S. Bach - Air on the G String - No, I don't see any scantily clad women or men...

Neil,
This was their birthday present to you - I missed posting it - might be a bit brighter than you'd prefer, though.

Carol of the Bells - Two amazing versions:

Pentatonix

Steven Sharp Nelson (Piano Guys)

WOW!

Thank You, DQ and Neil (gsdx), for keeping this Marvelous thread going! \:/

I'm just now seeing the 2 Cellos vids from Nov. 24 ... Awesome! (And, I still find myself drooling over that delicious little morsel Dusan on the drums!)

Also digging the acapella Pentatonix, and, of course, The Piano Guys. (!w!)

There were aa couple of cellphone videos on YouTube of them playing Christmas songs, but they were poor quality, both video and audio. I didn't see any professional-quality videos.

So, a wee bit of Irish...

Enya - Oíche Chiúin (Silent Night)

The Priests - Ave Maria

^ Thanks. I didn't know you can't save images from Instagram. I had to screen cap them all.

Stupid Stupid Instagram!!

(Nice pics, though.)
