Politicians will almost always put economics before principle. Think also of Russia (at least before Ukraine) and China. I'm not in the least surprised that Biden is prepared to brush Khashoggi under the carpet and meet the Saudis.

1 - I don't care who you got murdered.

What's typical is that the people who most loudly demanded he do something about oil prices, are now loudly demanding he offend Saudi Arabia.

The Saudis are assholes, and we shouldn't be dealing with them, I'd pay the higher prices. If however, someone has bitched and moaned that Biden does nothing about prices, well, that person can fuck off too.

Saudi Arabia doesn't sell us much oil, it's Biden asking him to sell more oil to Europe. Johnson should be in Riyadh with Macron and that guy in Germany; we can get by just fine.
