I just did some quick arithmetic.

20% of the threads on the first page are 'Congratulation' threads.

And they keep getting bumped and pushing all the interesting threads off the bottom of the page.

I hope I'm not the only one who is annoyed by this. I'd feel rather foolish if I am.

Congrats!!! gsdx!!!!

you are THE super sleuth

One Million posts would be worth celebrating, but I'd hate to get there by counting every One Thousand.

No, I fully agree with you on this one, Gsdx. Wonder what possesses Guys to send congratulations.

Seems to me, if a thread is super great, that, deserves a congratulation.

I remember when, the number of posts was just that, the amount of time, one posted a thread or a reply.. Then as I understand it, if you go on the games, your post there counts for every hit you make.

Sort of sounds silly don't you think. I play a game and walk away with 20,000 posts under my name.

Wonder what the logic is on this score.

Why be annoyed? It's just another fun part of JUB - like everyone else you have the choice to ignore it or take part in it - it's quite easy to search for things that will be of an interest to you.

cant have too much of that fun stuff at jub... it can get in the way of some good arguing ;)

and i guess that means that you guys need to come up with some thread ideas to start:D

I ve been thinking, but i cant come up with any today

Why bother? They disappear 10 minutes later.

not if you are engaging and conversational in them

of course... people are a bit reticent to do that right now

There is nothing wrong with fun. Just seems a little excessive.

things are weird in this forum right now

we need to try to get it back to normal again

lets put on our thinking caps and get some new things going. I already made one ;)

Change your settings to show more threads per page. It should knock that % down. =]

Now that I remember how to do percentages, I've discovered that only 41% of the above posts were 'on topic'.

Nice hijack.

from a certain perspective ...

hehe

from another they all could be on topic

well all but two;)

It is such a joy to see congratulations posted 55 times or so in one thread.... and its an even greater joy to see it done in 55 different threads.

oh my...

i dont see any on the first page anymore ;)

A "Congrats Forum" as suggested by TheBled is an alternative to consider.

I think that we're all grown ups here and we can ignore the threads that don't cater to our tastes.....

There is a difference between 'catering to tastes' and 'commandeering boards'.

When 0.0109% of the membership control 20% of the board, I consider that 'commandeering'.
