Click on the thumbnails, copy the url in the new tab/window, click the Image icon (it's the yellow one with the mountains), and paste in the url. When you click OK you will have a picture url enclosed in "IMG" brackets. That will appear as the picture itself in the thread.

OR: when you're first uploading, the filenames under "current attachments" will be links; these links go to the picture urls. Then you can use the Image icon again.
