$200 for whiplash is what an insurance company is offering me for an auto accident i was in.

should i get an attorney or is this a standard practice to offer only $200?

An attorney WILL probably get you more -- THEN he'll take 1/3...

Depends on how you want to proceed...

I've known people that have pursued the unfortunate position of being in an accident like a part time job...

----

Having been on the OTHER side...

A few years ago -- I bumped the drivers side mirror of this kids SUV while I was changing lanes and he was on the cell phone... :(

He hired a lawyer -- down there in Baton Rouge -- and I was SHOCKED when I found out my insurance company PAID A SETTLEMENT of $34,000!!!

I mean -- they guy was 18, and WASN'T hurt -- the ONLY property damage was a couple hundred bucks to cover the cost of the mirror...

I wish his lawyer could represent you -- I think they claimed EVERYTHING INCLUDING sexual dysfunction... :rotflmao:

:):):)

Say no, thanks and don't sign anything. This will allow you to pursue other venues down the road should you choose.

Most attorneys who specialise in this stuff won't charge for a consultation. Interview a few and see who fits.

Depends how much it is worth to you.

There is way too much "did i get as much as I can get?" going on nowadays. If you had whiplash that only required 200$ worth of medical costs and are not suffering any extended effects then that is what you should get.

If you are still in pain every day its a different story. You really don't give enough info to make a judgement.

Do you HAVE a $200 whiplash or are you being greedy?

Whiplash can be a serious. Is it preventing you from working, and participating in everyday activities? There are also many psychosocial factors relating to whiplash which pay prevent that.

Most importantly, how is your health post crash? Are you having lots of pain or none at all? Is this about getting the max payout or getting enough money for years/decades of treatment?
