The 2006 nominees won't be announced for 10 more weeks. Just curious whom everybody else foresees as getting a mention. Here's what's going through my mind.

THE I'M 100% SURE THEY WILL GET NOMINATED:

KT TUNSTALL
~ Anybody else that has her "Eye To The Telescope" opus can see the writing on the Wall. She'll be to the 2007 show what Norah Jones was to the 2003 show. This chick will be getting several Grammy nominations.

THE FRAY
~ These guys are the defining Best New Artist. They literally came out of no-where and will end 2006 with two of the absolute biggest U.S. pop hits in "Over My Head (Cable Car)" and "How To Save A Life"

GNARLS BARKLEY
~ Personally, I'm not that crazy about them but NARAS loves R&B upstarts (think last year's winner John Legend and Grammy princess India.Arie). And isn't "St. Elsewhere" what Outkast should have done following "Speakerboxx/The Love Below"?

Other deserving finalists:

James Blunt
Panic! At The Disco
Daniel Powter
Corinne Bailey Rae
Angels And Airwaves
The Wreckers
The Raconteurs
Paris Hilton (She could BUY a nomination, no?!?)

FTW means what???

For The Win?!? I agree. I personally don't think anybody stands a chance against her in the Best New Artist, Best Pop Vocal, Female, Record, Song, etc. categories.

And the thing is is that I don't even dig her that much.

I personally want Dixie Chicks to take EVERYTHING (they will get several nominations).

^^^^^^Lucky you!! KT or Gnarls are going to win......Other sure-fire Best New Artist nominess: Corrine Bailey is going to get the requisite R&B slot in the category (sorry Rihanna!) and The Fray is going to fill the pop/rock slot. If Daniel Powder gets nominated (or worse-win) I'm going to scream. That song is so fucking annoying! (It'll probably get a Best Song nomination no doubt....) sheeessh.....

Okay here's my official list:

Corrine Bailey Rae
Gnarls Barkley
James Blunt
KT Tunstall
Panic! At The Disco-or-The Fray

I don't think Rihanna could be nominated. She had two big hits in the summer & fall of 2005 with "Pon De Replay" and "If It's Lovin' That You Want."

The Grammys consider records released between November, 2005 & October, 2006.

She'll probably get an R&B female nod for "S.O.S." but that's gonna be a tough category with Mary J. Blige, Beyonce and LaToya all vying for a spot.

Corinne Bailey Rae? Did her record do well enough in USA to get a notice?

I don't have a fav in this year's list. Would like to say Blunt or Powter, but if Rihanna is in the picture - then, Rihanna gets my vote.

UPDATE!

Hello everyone, I got my nominations catalog today, and I just voted for the Best New Artist nominees. I voted for:

Arctic Monkeys
The Fray
Mylo
Rock Kills Kid

I didn't vote for Blunt or Powder, or Gnarles, or Bailey Raye. They didn't WOW me.

In the rest of the categories, I sprinkled a lot of voted out for Nelly Furtado, Madonna, Justin Timberlake, Keane, Scissor Sisters, Robin Thicke, Death Cab, John Mayer, AFI, Kasabian, Hard Fi, and KT Tunstall.

If you have specific questions on categores, just ask!

Corrine Bailey Rae has maybe 3 decent songs on her album and i am yet to hear a voice range. Her delivery is relaxed and soothing but to give her grammy for that i dont think so, not to mention she hasnt caused a big slasp although that SNL performance will help.

Gnarles Barkly might not get it because technically they are not new. The name might be new but the members have been around making music for years.
That would be like Whitney, Mariah and Janet forming a girlgroup called "Divas". Obviuosly they would make good music together but i doubt they would make it seem like they came out of no where and put them in the best new artist category.

Jay Z has a lot of pull in the music industry so Rihanna is assured a grammy nomination. If Missy could get a nomination for LOL Ciara LOL then Rihanna will mos def get nominated. I expect multiple grammy noms for Rihanna.

Tanya Stephens - Incredible Reggae Artist with lots of cross over appeal. Her album is a near masterpiece. Lots of music critics are saying it is the album of they year.

Below are links to 3 of the reviews. Ill try and find the other ones later but is such good news i just had to share it.

The Fray probably - Lots of Buzz

The 5th slot is going to be a battle but if Gnarles is not considered new there will be 2 slots to fight for.

What did you nominate Madonna for?

hung up for record of the year, female pop song of the year, get together for dance track of the year, Confessions for album of the year, and dance album of the year

Rihanna and Tanya

hung up for record of the year, female pop song of the year, get together for dance track of the year, Confessions for album of the year, and dance album of the year

Wishing thinking.

"Hung Up" is a fun dance song but it got no mainstream radio airplay.

Best Dance recording? She has a shot if her label submits "Sorry" but in the end Rihanna's S.O.S will reign supreme.

Album of the year is possible as well as Best Dance Album which is a new category.

Rebelution - Tanya Stephens

I don't think Rihanna will take Best New Artist, but she may get some noms in the R&B category

Dont even get me started.

Rihanna is so making the final cut, Jay Z will make sure of it. I didnt even know who Corrine Baliey Rae was until last month and besides her album is not an overall success, maybe 3 decent songs.

You know what i wasnt going to start the Rihanna campaign until mid November but let me go an revive the Rihanna thread.

Madonna was not the only person I nominated in those categories. We get 5 votes in each category, from the catalog of hundreds.

Like I said, besides her, I voted Record of the year (which is for the total production) Talk, Hung Up, Waiting on the world to change, I don't feel like dancing, and Robin Thicke's Lost Without U.

For Album of the year, I voted Loose, Confessions, Ta-Da, The Evolution of Robin Thicke, and JT.

After the votes are tabulated, nominees are announced and we vote the final ballot in January. And you keep mentioning Jay-Z's influence, but we Grammy Voters are from all over the country, and most people are technicians and engineers, so while I think she has a shot, I don't think it will be from anyone getting strongarmed.

Also, Best Dance Album is not so new, as I've voted on it since I began voting in 2002.
