Grammy Award for Best Electronic/Dance Album
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Jump to: navigation, search

The Grammy Award for Best Electronic/Dance Album was first awarded in 2005. The award joined the award for Best Dance Recording in the "dance" field, the second award to be created in this field.

Years reflect the year in which the Grammy Awards were presented, for works released in the previous year.

Its not about Jay Z strongarming anybody, its campaigning like what movie studios do to get oscar noms. Its about talent and Rihanna is bursting with it. A star is born and S.O.S is unstoppable

If it wasnt for Missy Elliot Ciara would never have gotton that laughable Best New Artist nomination.

I see it this way, there are two formidable front-runners pertaining to Best New Artist.

Both Corrine and Gnarls Barkley are near locks for 'Record of the Year' as well as 'Best New Artist'.

Gnarls will get a nod for their HUGE hit 'Crazy' (I'll even go as far as to say this is a lock to win that award).

Corrine will get a nod for her VH-1 dominating songs 'Like A Star' or 'Put Your Records On' (both are extremely possible contenders).

I love both acts, and as far as I'm concerned 'St. Elsewhere' deserves a nod for 'Album of the Year' for so effectively meshings genres and being so incredibly crazy hot! It's my favorite this year.

Anyone but the fucking Fray, they're two hit wonders who will be forgotten once the radio stops playing their songs.

Does Madonna have any Grammy's? Wasn't she eligible for Grammy's '06? She hasn't really done anything spectacular since to earn a credible nomination besides a tour, ans they don't give Grammy's for that - if they did though, she'd rack up I'd think. I don't get why she hasn't really won anything - I mean I can understand from a vocal standpoint on her last two albums, but before, like on songs such as "Youll See", she gets nothing. Thats B.S. - but I don't see her winning for vocals on any of this album. What's difficult about running your voice through a computer? Not much. I think she should get at least the dance ones, though.

She has a bunch of Grammys, She won 4 for Ray of Light, and 1 for Music. Many other nominations though.

Also, the reason she is eligible this year is because the Grammy Year is from October-September. So since Hung Up and the whole Confessions album came out in October/November of last year, this is the Grammy year for it.

Oh okay, I couldn't remember what month her album dropped. I read somewhere she didn't have any grammys, or maybe it was she hasn't gotten one in awhile. Anyway, Hung Up would be the only one I'd vote for. Sorry and Jump aren't my cup o tea.

Actually, in the 4 general categories (song, record, album of the year, and best new artist), you do choose from ALL musical genres, but you pick your favorites. If everyone picked what was "popular" then the awards would have no integrity. It's about the diverse make-up of the acadamy.

As for the rest of the categories, well OBVIOUSLY those are only grouped by genre. You can't pick Madonna for best solo R&B and John Legend for best solo rock.

I still think Rihanna still qualify for Best New Artist as she made an impact in the music industry only after the Grammys.Music of The Sun is good but Best New Artist is based not only on a unknown artist who suddenly made it BIG in the music scene but to those who hav been in the industry but suddenly became the next Big Thing.so yeah...Rihanna is qualified. Not many knew her with Pon De Replay but with SOS n Unfaithful, she's the most talked about female artist besides Beyonce for this year.

But here's the frontrunner with my choices:
KT Tunstall
Carrie Underwood
Corrine Bailey Rae
Rihanna(jUst watch...Ciara gets nomintated last yr)
The Fray
Panic! At The Disco(FAll OUt Boy gets nominated last year)
James Blunt
Daniel Powter
Paris Hilton?!(ONly for Best Dance Recording i hope..Oops..wrong categories)

If Paris Hilton were to get a nomination, I will have lost all faith in music and humanity. Not to mention respect for the Association who picks the winners and nominees.
