They're working on plans and ideas for the meet right now...it sounds as though a number of people will likely be coming from quite far - already at least three people from east of the Mississippi, it appears - possibly even Europe.

Speaking of Mississippi, I can imagine some of us enjoying looking around that same-named neighborhood of Portland...it's definitely a fun place to explore.

I am SO ready to go to this! After all, Portland IS my favorite U. S. city!!

And my guess is that the top picture was taken not all that far from where you live, guys...obviously taken from somewhere west of downtown in the hills.

^ frankfrank, that photo was probably taken from Washington Park, at the Portland International Rose Test Gardens, near where I live.

Portland could well be many people's favorite city..

It's going to be a great Meet Up, tomorrow or the next day I should post a list of probable attendees and, so far, it's looking good.

Next week swerve (my co-host) and I will list some agenda items. Trust me, they'll be fun..

But I'm Australian and I was surprised to find out today that the Japanese were shelling Oregon as well as Australia and Hawaii during the Second World War.)

I'm really looking forward to it! I've been to other JUB meets. I can guarantee that you'll have a good time, if you go. [a "collective YOU" meaning not only Saucy, but anybody. Could I have said y'all'll? Four L's in a row??]

And swerve, I'm all with you about the "favorite city" thing...at least THIS side of the Canadian border.

You know, we've joked about this in the past...

But between the TWO of US, You and I have been to EVERY MAJOR JUB MEET -- yet NEVER the SAME ONE!!! #-o

I KNOW that you'll have a BLAST -- and I cannot wait to FINALLY meet you!!! :D

August 2011 is far enough away that I could start making plans to attend. :D

I'll even volunteer to help! ..|

In the past when we've had meetings in San Antonio, and St. Louis we put together accommodation options that we could all pretty much decide upon.

Those "hotel/motels" have been the base of operation during the meets.

So it's important to find a place that not only has some type of public transportation or ease of access to local attractions, but also affordable.

From what I remember during my last visit to Portland, downtown Portland has some really awesome possibilities.

Among MANY AWESOME things about Portland is that it has an INCREDIBLE transit system (nineofclubs works for them)... :D

Even I can go ANYWHERE from the TRUCK STOP!!! :lol:

It's not far for me to cum, now is it ; since I live only 3 miles from downtown Portland :)
