The 2012 Detroit Auto Show, formally known as the "North American International Auto Show" opens today!!

The annual Detroit Auto Show, held in January, is probably the most important venue for American, Japanese, Korean, and European automakers to unveil their new car models & futuristic prototypes. Other well-attended U.S. auto shows include the L.A. auto show in November, the Chicago auto show in February, and the NYC auto show in April.

Any JUBbers in Detroit or the Michigan area planning to attend?

What do you guys think of the cars being launched this year? Any new cars you are excited about? Are there any new cars that you can't stand?

As for me..........I like the new Toyota Prius C. It's much more sportier looking and masculine looking than the regular Prius, which is kinda frumpy.

I was very surprised by the new Cadillac ATS, which is a compact luxury sedan. I think it's Cadillac's first true competitor to the BMW 3-Series, Audi A4 and Mercedes-Benz C-Class. Considering the last time Cadillac made a car this compact was the "Cimarron" in the 1980s -- which was a total disaster -- the new ATS looks like Cadillac hopefully hit their target this time.

But what drives me INSANE -- is that SO MANY POLICE departments USE these cars -- and EVERY TIME I see one -- I get NERVOUS -- and there is NO WAY I want to be MISTAKEN for a COP...

Also in the line-up -- I really liked the Audi A4 and the Mercedes SL...

And that makes me nervous -- DETROIT appears to be appealing to a different aesthetic than mine -- HOPEFULLY, I'm NOT main-street...

I find the new Cadillac interesting, likewise the 3 series BMW and the Mercedes roadster. I've been driving various 5's for years, but unfortunately the car keeps getting bigger and bigger and less and less a sports sedan. I'll venture that the new 5 isn't a sports sedan at all, just another German burgher car, practically indistinguishable from a 7, though thank god Chris Bangle is history. A neighbor of mine just bought the new 6--it's a real beauty!

I like the Caddy, I'm glad they are sticking with RWD, I have never liked the FWD cars.

I used to really like the BMWs but lately they are starting to all look a like.

The Fusion is all-new by the way... And I LOVE it! It's beautiful from every angle and appears to have one of the nicest interiors of its class. Also, 100mpg (equivalent) from the Energi model? Hell yeah!!!

The Lincoln MKZ Concept is gorgeous too - but the production version is what matters. I am quietly confident Lincoln will be on a winner with this one...
