Simian Mobile Disco are set to return with their latest LP, “Unpatterns,” on May 14th. For now, we have to content ourselves with an album teaser, which features lead single “Seraphim” and video of an installation by Kate Moross of ISO tudios.

SMD have always stretched genre with their brand of electronic music, but apparently “Unpatterns” will take this to the next level. Indeed, if “Seraphim” is any indication, the new LP will not function as the remora fish of current electronic music trends.

The duo have also announced additional international DJ dates in support of “Unpatterns,” with stops at New York City’s Le Poisson Rouge, several Winter Music Conference shows in March, and other North American dates in May and June.

Mute are pleased to announce the release of CARTER TUTTI VOID's Transverse, a unique collaboration from Chris Carter & Cosey Fanni Tutti (Throbbing Gristle) and Nik Void (Factory Floor), out on vinyl, CD and download on 26 March 2012.

Transverse is a unique collaboration, created especially for the legendary Short Circuit presents Mute festival at the Roundhouse, London in 2011.

The tracks were prepared in the studio and then performed and recorded live in front of an audience. Outside of the trio, these recordings were unheard prior to the festival and the popularity of the performance left many being turned away at the door.

Mute is proud to make this ground breaking recording available and to be working again with two of electronic music's true pioneers and one of its new trail blazers.

Said The Quietus of the performance: "…a warm embrace, creating a deep connection… Carter at the back manipulates the electronics while on either flank, Void scratches noise with bowed guitar and Tutti plays while singing vocals that she mangles and distorts… there is no nihilism in this noise, nothing but a deep and wonderful sense of love."

I don't know if this has been posted but Fiona Apple is slated to release a new album this June. and in tradition to her quirkiness, she will have another super long album title, it will be titled, "The Idler Wheel is wiser than the Driver of the Screw, and Whipping Cords will serve you more than Ropes will ever do"

the new record from Sigur Rós will be out May 28 (May 29 US), according to a new interview with Q magazine. The record, titled Valtari, is the followup to 2008's Með suð í eyrum við spilum endalaust.

As Q notes, the album's title translates to "steamroller." Frontman Jónsi tells the magazine that "the music kind of just rolls over you" but "in a good way." The album is centered more on electronics, and makes use of strings and a girls' choir. No lyrics are sung in English.
