Romney Vs Obama

Its my feeling the GOP wants to lose the 2012 election, they have no viable candidates, however, their self-sabotaging plan my have unintended consequences.

The GOP field may not be satisfactory to primary voters, because collectively and perhaps unconsciously conservatives may feel a Republican president could hinder America's demise.

America's demise? Why would the GOP want America to fail? And why would a Republican President stop this?

The GOP is looking for a savior, a Jesus like figure, to save conservatism and defeat Obama. This is why there has been so much pressure on Cristie to join the race, why the front runner is a 1 term ex-governor/millionaire corporatist.

If a Republican IS elected president in 2012, he would be tasked with either
  1. Actually doing something about the economy, countering every argument conservatives make about government,
  2. Letting people think the economy is getting better, aka 'selling the dream', by merely providing a placebo effect to a battered economy
We know the GOP nominee is going to be Mitt Romney, and Romney is a socialist by tea-party standards.

After the tea-party tormented the public in the debt debate and sunk congressional approval to record lows, Obama sat by and let the economic terror unfold.

At that point it became clear to the public that the GOP were willing to do whatever it took to push their radical agenda, even if the American people had to suffer in the process.

If Obama wins the GOP can continue the class warfare against the middle and lower class, they can continue game playing with the economy, they can continue cheer-leading for our economic demise while constantly re-inventing themselves as budget cutting fiscal conservatives.

But how forgiving will the voters be? Will they value the tea-party and its ruthless tactics or side with liberals in their vain attempts to save the right wing from itself?

If Romney wins, at least he may get to repeal his own healthcare bill, and solidify his flip-flopper image.

The only power conservatives have right now is in congress, are they ready to give that up if a Republican is elected President? Do republicans really want to be tasked with governing and finally prove to the country they are too reckless to trust?

Its my feeling that IF a Republican is elected, the economy will improve, not because of 'leadership' but because of the collective feeling that a new President is the cure for a self-inflicted wound, a placebo effect.

However, when Obama is re-elected, America will still have someone who is willing to fight for the 99% of Americans who are not Billionaires.

When 1% of the people can get 50% of the vote, isnt that a plutocracy? Or a GOP so brainwashed into sacrificing their own-self interests for those of a few powerful corporations and people?

I think we have both.

I agree with you, the GOP is doing everything it can to lose the election, I think. However, there are still stories popping up about suppression of the vote. I just got an email from the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee. I don't know if it is just scare tactics or if it is true. I have seen stories of laws states have come up with that will affect some poorer voters. ie, the Colorado SOS and the military in Iraq/Afghan. This is what DSCC has to say today. Call it an opposing view of your thread. I hope it's not too far off topic.

The GOP strategy is simple: Suppress the vote, win the election. That’s why we’re launching the 2012 Election Protection Project, and we need you to stand with us.

Petition text:
I strongly oppose Republican attempts to suppress the Democratic vote and manipulate their way to victory in the 2012 elections. Preventing voters from doing their civic duty is just plain wrong, and I stand united with Democrats against coordinated Republican schemes to do so.

From an email. The DSCC reports in this email that the New York Times just reported a study on suppression. I have looked into this and have not found anything at NYT about this. Anyway, while I still look, here is what DSCC page says

The New York Times just reported on a brand new study on Republican voter suppression tactics, and its findings are worse than any of us could have imagined.

According to the report, 5 MILLION voters – more than decided the 2000 and 2004 presidential elections – could be affected by this coordinated GOP effort to skew the 2012 elections. Not surprisingly, the suppression effort specifically targets traditionally Democratic voters. The road to the Senate and the White House runs right through the affected states – Ohio, Florida, Wisconsin, Nevada, Virginia – even California.

The GOP strategy is simple: Suppress the vote, win the election. The loss of these votes would be more than enough to lose the Senate – and the White House. If Republicans succeed, they will get just what they’re seeking – complete and total control of Washington.

Republicans want total control of the government again, thus total power. Every single leading world economist has already repeatedly said that it will take at least 4-5 years for the economy to even begin turning around, no matter who is President. Christie was smart to stay out of it. More than who is President, the focus should really be on who controls Congress. Most voters are in agreement that the mid-term elections were not a mandate and not a solution to anything. The only way back to an effective Congress is eliminating far right and left extremists in Congress.

Democracy is the art of compromise. The current crop in Congress refuses to compromise. That means they refuse to participate in our democracy.

You cannot conduct a democracy with people who will not participate in the democratic process.

One problem with this image -- it's wrong. Corporations still cant donate to candidates.

But we do need to get them out of politics, along with all other organizations not formed from the purpose of issue advocacy/free speech. It's something no law will do -- we need a constitutional amendment.

No, democracy is the art of 50% + 1. Politics is the art of compromise. Governing is politics.

Republicans are not interested in democracy, or governing -- they're interested in power and suppressing all opposition.

All the Republicans care about is winning. They care so much about winning, the want the Obama administration to fail so that they can get elected. Of course, the problem is, what then? The Republicans don't have a clue about actually forming a competent government.

We don't live in a democracy or else citizens would vote for bills DIRECTLY instead of the corrupt ones voting FOR us because "we can't handle being smart enough to do so." We live in a Republic. They TELL us we live in democracy to make us think we have a fair system.. just like Capitalist Soviets lied people they lived in communism.. to brainwash torture and control.

And thank God we don't live in a direct democracy! People would vote for things that make them feel good, rarely for what's good for them.

But the Republic has been corrupted by corporations, and isn't protecting liberty any more. That corporate influence has got to go.
