2013 MLB thread

I will say, I take blame for some of it. Haven't posted much at all this year and even in the Mets one as well. Really haven't popped up on this website, I try better going forward.

That would be great we all need to support this thread more :D

This year baseball says thanks and goodbye to two of the giants, time to retire some numbers

Gotta say to gtru and Ninja that I'm very sorry to see the Yanks just go down like this and get eliminated from all playoff considerations. I don't know what happened to Phil Hughes... I mean he just ISN'T this bad, but he's seen his last it appears as a Yankee and I don't know if he will ever be a serviceable starting pitcher again. So many injuries too... and Sabathia being so bad most of the second half with Kuroda too losing his first half magic... virtually no Jeter, Teixeira and no Gardner down the stretch... carried by has beens, then some by the reacquired Alfonso Soriano and Roberto Cano( who despite risks and occasional lollygagging play the Yanks MUST re-up if the considerations aren't ridiculously expensive and long term) then the collapse in Boston this past weekend and a couple of bad efforts last two games. Just sad to see a great franchise looking so vulnerable. I love the Mets but want to se a strong Yankee franchise in New York and I hope somehow Brian Casnhman can make a transition to a healthier, better prepared and executing club next year forward.

IMO Sausy, the problem is at some point, there was goign to be a rebuilding year. But on a team where anything short of a championshp is a failure, that simply can't happen.
As for Hughes,he never developed an out pitch. In the bullpen,he was electric in 09,but as a starter, his lack of pitches bit him in the butt.
As for the rest, you said it better then I could. We simply got hit with too many injuries and our starters fell apart.
Better to end this way then b e humilated in the postseason.

Congrats to the St Louis Cards and the Boston Red Sox as they head to the World Series. Two outstanding teams slugging it out for the win. My choice has to be the Cards I don’t see it as a rematch of the 2004 World Series, when the Red Sox swept the Cardinals, no “curse” this year. I have think about Cory (Absolut) where ever he is and how excited he must be for the Cards

HELLO!!!*wave* World Series starts today does anyone care, anyone out there, I this thing on?

I will be rooting for the Cardinals. I HATE Boston and will root for them to fall.

It's like a never ending party around here!

Did you mean the Cards loss last night or that no one posts here it is clear that there just aren’t t many baseball fans here at JUB it gets frustrating when so little is posted in fact I doubt I am going to create any more Mets threads just not worth the trouble with so little response, We used to have a few steady posters but that has now changed

So the first WS game did not go all that well the problems began early, in the first inning or even before it started it was not a good sign when Wainwright hit his head on the low ceiling coming out of the dugout. The Cardinals didn't play like the Cardinals especially in defense stuff like Pete Kozma not able to catch Matt Carpenter's feed, and all made worse when the umpire incorrectly called the runner out, the rest of the umpires all told him that his initial call was wrong. What should have been an n easy double play ball with men on first and second when Matt Carpenter flipped to Pete Kozma for the first out ... then this happened:

Second base umpire called Dustin Pedroia out at second base, saying Kozma bobbled the transfer. Nope ya got that wrong ump that ain't what happened Kozma just missed the ball.
I thought we caught a break when the umpiring crew got together and talked the play over after an argument by John Farrell. But after a minute or two, the call was overturned and Pedroia was told to go to second and e everyone was safe, truthfully that was the right call the umpires getting the call right.
The best news they had Wednesday was that Carlos Beltran's ribs are bruised, not broken, after his outstanding catch that turned a David Ortiz grand slam into a sacrifice fly. But while Beltran may return we won’t know when should know more before today’s game sure would be a shame if it turns out the injury will compromise him for the rest of the series

I meant a never ending party around here in Saint Louis with all the Cardinals stuff everywhere, parades, newspaper headlines and on TV and radio, everyone wearing Cardinals shirts, turning the water red in public fountains, highway banners and so on.

So...yeah...the first game didn't go well. But they're not called the come-back Cardinals for nothing. Oh well, have to put on my Cardinals shirt and go to work now.

Gotcha I am sure it would be the same back home in NY had the Mets or Yankees been in it so enjoy :D

I am in Arizona and I watched the game with 2 major and 3 minor league ball payers and the overall thought was Oh No Cards/Sox here we go again. #-o
Lets go Cards!

I'm not so anti-Boston this year because of what happened with those two crazy jihadists at the Boston Marathon. I do want St. Louis to do well and am very glad that Carlos Beltran not only played after his amazing catch he had appeared to be injured but had two hits and knocked in a run. Sucks to be almost always working late, just so many things going on recently haven't really had the energy to post much so I'm very sorry, Joey. Want this so badly to be something the Mets will be playing for, soon...please baseball gods!!!!!!!!!!!

Is he not the cutest pitcher ever?

Cardinals are taking a 4-2 lead into the 8th inning of Game #3.

Bleh..hated to say it but after game 4,I knew the Red Sox were going to win.
THey earned it this year,no doubt about it.

Yep, they did earn it and really it was a gritty, gutty team effort...you might mention Big Papi but until he became a Red Sox he was a nondescript player with Minnesota with good potential but nothing else. I'm a Mets fan and while I'm not anti St. Louis it's not like I'm enthusiastic about them... great history, organization and fans but they still were the last club to beat us in the postseason. Back in 2006, seventh game at Shea Stadium in the NLCS and just thinking about Wainwright freezing Beltran(now ironically his teammate) with a called strike 3 to end the series and the Mets hopes still not something we Mets fans can completely get over.:(

Especially after what happened on Patriot's Day I just am happy for the city of Boston... their Bosox gave them something to cheer about, and going from the bottom of the barrel last year to a World Series championship has got to be sweet. This was actually the first Red Sox World Series championship since 1918 actually won in front of the home fans... both in 2004 and 2007 it was out on the road so a really poignant and happy moment for Boston.

I'm happy Boston won too but it's kind of bittersweet in a way. Because I think back to game 7 of 01 and how that ended. If there was any team that deserved to have the fairytale ending,it was the Yanks that year, even though if it hadn't been for Kym blowing back to back saves, there wouldn't have even been a game 7.
