2014 Most Anticipated Music Releases

Grace Jones‘ 1981 album Nightclubbing will be issued as a two-CD deluxe edition on April 28, 2014.

The album was the second in Jones’ so-called Compass Point Trilogy, produced by Chris Blackwell and Alex Sadkin at Blackwell’s Bahamas recording studio.

Widely regarded as her best studio work, the record spawned many singles including Pull Up To The Bumper, Demolition Man and I’ve Seen That Face Before (Libertango). This deluxe reissue sees Nightclubbing remastered for the first time with the bonus CD bringing together a large number of remixes, as well as offering two previously unreleased tracks (including a cover of the Gary Numan/Tubeway Army track Me! I Disconnect From You.

Blondie celebrates 40th anniversary with new album, greatest hits collection

Debbie Harry’s 68 and Chris Stein’s 64, but Blondie’s 40. To celebrate, the legendary New York outfit has put together a special double-disc release and slapped on a confusing title: Blondie 4(0) Ever.

Due out May 13th, the collection bundles new recordings of their past hits with their tenth studio album, which is actually dubbed, Ghosts of Download. If you recall, Journey marketed the same package deal back in 2008 with Revelation, but don’t fret if that doesn’t ring a bell.

Recorded at New York’s Mercy Sound Studios, the followup to 2011′s Panic of Girls comes stocked with 12 originals and a cover of Frankie Goes to Hollywood’s big hit, “Relax”. Last year’s single “A Rose By Any Name”, featuring Gossip’s Beth Ditto, also joins the bunch.

Right now, the album’s available for pre-order via iTunes, which includes a free download of new song “I Want to Drag You Around” upon ordering. Diehard fans should recognize the tune, as the band’s performed it live in recent tours.

British synth pop singer Elly Jackson, aka La Roux, has announced a followup to her eponymous 2009 debut. Trouble in Paradise is out July 7 on Polydor. Hear the track "Let Me Down Gently" below.

For Trouble in Paradise, Jackson worked with co-producer Ian Sherwin. The last record was written and produced with Ben Langmaid.

Caribou has announced the follow up LP to 2010's Swim. It's called Our Love, and it's out October 7 via Merge. It features collaborations with Jessy Lanza and Owen Pallett, the latter of whom Snaith recently collaborated with under his Daphni moniker.

Goldie presents his Masterpiece

Goldie will release a three-CD Masterpiece mix through Ministry Of Sound on August 18th.

The Metalheadz man will follow other dance music luminaries—Fabio & Grooverider, David Rodigan, François K, Gilles Peterson and Carl Craig among them—in overseeing a Masterpiece compilation. In keeping with the series, Goldie's mix is spread across three discs: The Alpha, Journeyman and Headzville.
