2016 JUB Christmas Card Exchange

Yes, believe it or not, that time of year is here again - The JUB Christmas Card Exchange! This exchange is a member event and JUB itself is not involved although everyone is certainly welcome to participate. The only leap of faith people have to make is trusting their fellow JUBBERS to maintain confidentiality.

Here's how it works! :xmas:

The following information is needed:

1. A real mailing name and a real mailing address. Any mailing name and address you wish to use is acceptable. They just need to be "real enough" for the post office to deliver the cards.
2. An outside email address to which the final mailing list will be sent.

If you wish to participate, you may simply PM the information to me if you are comfortable with that. If not, I have set up an outside email address for communication and from which the final list will be sent. Just state that you would like to send the information via private email and I will PM that address to you.

The list will close on November 30, 2016 and the final list of participants will be sent to the email address you request on December 1, 2016. Hopefully, this will give people enough time to post cards to International JUBBERS.

As always, we expect the participants to respect the privacy of the other JUBBERS and keep the addresses and names you receive CONFIDENTIAL. Private Email addresses will not be included on the mailing list. Once the final update is sent out, I will delete the distribution email account.

There may be JUBBERS who are unable to receive cards but would like to send them; those that are in this situation will get a 'send only' list. You know who you are, be sure to tell me!

Similarly, if you are unable to send cards (financially or otherwise) but would like to receive them, please don't be shy, by all means sign up. In the season of giving your fellow JUBBERS wish to brighten their day and yours by sending you a Christmas greeting.

On a personal note, the card exchange has been a very rewarding experience in past years and it is great fun to receive cards from JUBBERS all over the world. Enjoy.

I don't have money to send cards to international Jubbers, but sign me up for sending to everyone else.
 
It's still early. I do hope more people sign up. We have 4 total so far.
 
I'm in again! Loads of fun!

And since in my new job as Head Christmas Elf, I've been in the Christmas season since my purchasing trip in March.

Once I figure out again how to get photos from my phone to the computer, I'll post a photo of my efforts. I've set up 42 trees in the last three weeks. Not doing one at home!

Ornaments. I unpacked each one, attached a teeny tiny price tag to each one, repacked them back in July/August then unpacked them all again the end of October and hung them up.

Some of the other stuff. Already sold the deer which surprised me, they were $400 each.

Thanks! We spend a lot of time to to Christmas in our 'small' town better than the 'Big Boxes.' I've shopped the Orange Place, the Blue Place, and the Red Place plus Wally World and Hobby Lobby and am pleased with the results. In January, I'm going to a couple of Wholesale Markets to shop for 2017 and have a boatful of ideas to improve for next year!

I'm really lucky I landed this new job. It's the best situation I've ever been in. :elf:
 
Any projections on the number of participants?

For anyone interested in cost saving for custom cards -- the photo printing places usually have sales, like the current one at Shutterfly, 40% off cards (sometimes it's 50% or 60%), plus they sent me a two $10 gift certificates (I'd share one). The cards are under $3 before the discount, some under $2. You can use holiday templates or design your own.
 
^ So far we are up to 7 total. A lot of people sign up toward the end so I expect we'll have around 12 to 15.

There are over 280 views of the thread. It's a pretty safe bet that people have indeed noticed it.

I just noticed it NOW. It would have been very easy for me to miss the sticky FOREVER. This is my complaint about JUB, my main complaint; I have sometimes gone MONTHS without noticing new stickys. It would be nice if they could be a "sticky" at the top of the main summary for a week (i.e. only move to the stickys section on top AFTER a week has passed). OR SOMETHING...yes, this is three weeks old before I saw it.

Well, there's nothing stopping anyone from simply starting a thread in Hot Topics to remind folks this sticky is up here.
 
I have decided on the cards I will buy. Now I just need to know how many I need.
 
Unless someone else signs up at the last minute - which is perfectly fine - there are 9 this year.

I will not get the list out until late Thursday evening. My mom is in the hospital and I won't be home to do it until then. She is much improved and doing well now thankfully.

It's a short list this year, which is OK.

It's still fun to get cards from all over. Once again this year, I am sending cards produced locally that I selected at the factory in Boulder...but it's actually closer to my town than Downtown Boulder.

I'm pretty sure there will be no duplicates.
