Global COVID-19 Mortality/Morbidity
- Cases reported: 1,999,628 (up from 1,930,780) - **68,848 new cases yesterday
- Deaths: 128,011 (up from 120,450) - **5,467 people died yesterday
US COVID-19 Mortality/Morbidity
- Cases reported in the US - 609,685 cases (up from 582,594 yesterday, **27,091 new cases)
- Deaths reported in the US - 26,059 deaths, **2,410 new deaths yesterday, 44% of the world's new deaths were in the US
Note: the US has begun implementing the new CDC policy that a positive SARS-CoV-2 test is not required to count the death as COVID-related. This will cause death counts to be unusually high until the counts are adjusted for past deaths that had not been counted previously.
NY state and NYC COVID-19 Mortality/Morbidity (as of 11AM yesterday)
- Cases reported in NY state - 202,208 (up from 195,031 / +7.177)
- Cases reported in NYC - 106,763 (up from 104,410 / +2,353)
- Deaths reported in NYC - 7,349[SUP]*[/SUP] (up from 6,898 / +451) [SUP]*[/SUP]11,127 including probable deaths
- Persons tested in NY state - 499,143 (478,357 tested prior day- +20,786 new tests) positive - 41%
Note: NY started implementation of the CDC policy yesterday. This resulted in about *3,778 additional deaths from the past being added in a single day.
