It seems that most Jubbers are wise and are vaccinated and wear masks. The death of my friend, who could not be convinced to get vaccinated, angers me because it was unnecessary.
It seems they are doing a good job, as the numbers are in a steady decline. In America, vaccine resistance and anti-maskers have made certain that the Delta variant is widespread and deadly.

The impression I have of whats happening in the USA from afar is that too many people see covid as a political thing instead of a health thing. So it seems a lot of people are thinking that getting vaccinated is a betrayal of the Republican Party or something.
I've run across tonight far-right nutcases using, as their Facebook profile image, a Star of David that looks like it was cut from the clothes of a Jewish prisoner, with the words "Not Vaccinated" in the center. I'd post an example, but it is just too sickening. This is how far off the deep end these people have gone. There is no hope of ever reaching them, and they are metastasizing at an alarming rate. I really fear for our country and not enough people take the threat seriously.

As the Delta variant washes over the US and Mu variant is ascendant, given that he seemed to think the whole thing was overblown...I hope that common sense overtook his belief in conspiracy theories and that he is healthily regretting his ridiculous starting position on all of this.

You are correct, in the United States vaccines have become a political thing, just the same as global warming. If you're a Republican, you're unlikely to get vaccinated or wear a mask. Almost all Democrats are vaccinated and faithfully wear masks. It is absurd that it is this way, and I see no remedy as reason, science, and common sense have failed to work.

Something to understand about the graph: it's not only the vaccines that are the only distinction. It's also the dosing regimen.
Pfizer/BioNTech gives two doses: the second dose is given 21 days after the first dose.
Astra-Zeneca (Oxford) was given in two doses but in the UK, the second dose was given at 90 days. Astra-Zeneca's vaccine may also show declining antibodies in the future (studies are pending).
That's why Astra-Zeneca's antibody levels remained flat after 3 months- they boosted at 3 months. It's also why Pfizer is adding a 3rd dose at 8 months after the second dose: it's to kick up antibody levels.
^ What one primarily understands from that graph is that our wonderful vaccines' wonderfulness only lasts three months before attaining the level of efficacy that is derired in other vaccines, from the Chinese, or from whoever is not Magic Big Pharma.
