On Topic Discussion 2019 Coronavirus (COVID-19/SARS-CoV-2)

You get the idea. Same old, same old hate, stupidity, rejection of reality, and willful ignorance.
None of the comments actually acknowledge or address the rising death rates, infections, and hospital admissions.

Thinking of stupidity, I bumped into a comment claiming that "the vaccine RNA replaces all your own RNA so your cells keep making the vaccine".

There are so many ways that is wrong....

Another case study in successful management:

Puerto Rico has a population of 3.194 million.

In Dec, 2020 while the White House was flailing in planning for the vaccine rollout, Puerto Rico Department of Health (PRDH) contacted the CDC to plan for their vaccination campaign.

Puerto Rico has administered one dose to 2,833,167 (88.7%) of their residents (not eligible residents, all residents). They have 2,454,310 (76.8%) of the population that is fully vaccinated.

Before omicron, Puerto Rico's 7-day daily case rate was 114 cases were day. Their 7-daily death rate was 1 death per day. Their 7-day daily hospitalization rate is 56 patients per day.

With omicron, their 7-day daily death rate is 9,498 cases per day and their 7-day daily death rate is 3 deaths per day. Their 7-day daily hospitalization rate is 413 patients per day.

Compare this to the US:
  • In the US, 73.8% of the population has received one dose and 62.4% is fully vaccinated.
  • The 7-day daily case rate is 391,013 cases per day and the 7-day daily death rate is 1,339 deaths per day.
  • Currently, the 7-day daily hospitalization rate is 12,039 patients per day.

Thoughts as We Enter the Third Year

I won't arise and go now, and go to Innisfree.
I'll sanitise the doorknob and make a cup of tea.
I won't go down to the sea again, I won't go out at all.
I'll wander lonely as a cloud from the kitchen to the hall.
There's a green-eyed yellow monster to the north of Kathmandu,
But I shan't be seeing him just yet and nor, I think, will you.
While the dawn comes up like thunder on the road to Mandalay
I'll make my bit of supper and eat it off a tray.
I shall not speed my bonnie boat across the sea to Skye
Or take the rolling English road from Birmingham to Rye.
About the woodland, just right now, I am not free to go
To see the Keep Out posters or the cherry hung with snow.
And no, I won't be traveling much, within the realms of gold,
Or get to Milford Haven. All that's been put on hold.
Give me your hands, I shan't request, albeit we are friends,
Nor come within a mile of you, until this shit show ends.

Things are getting worse in St. Louis. Cases are shooting up like Roman Candles. Hospitals are reaching their highest admission rates, and many are children. The City of St. Louis is reporting for every Covid test, 1 in 3 three are now positive. And the F'ing republicans are filing more law suits over mask mandates.

Here is an interesting report. St. Louis City and Country are actually doing some cutting edge research into tracking the virus through waste water. Not a totally new idea actually, but the implementation, results, and projections are groundbreaking, so says the story. (Watch the video (2 min))

Groundbreaking COVID research in Missouri shows alarming trend [Channel 2]

ST. LOUIS — New testing on human waste shows the current surge of COVID-19 may be the worst yet for the St. Louis area.
The groundbreaking findings and research in Missouri may provide a roadmap for the future of COVID-19 response in the rest of the United States.
What we send from our toilets into wastewater treatment plants can say a lot about how sick we are collectively and how sick we may become, according to researchers.

^ Well, since the goal is 95%, I don't think it makes THAT much of a difference

Even with 90.3% of the original target population right now.

US did a lot of Moderna early on. It was the one that had the highest and longest-lasting antibody response because the first two doses are a large dose.

If Spain does the same protocol, the Moderna booster (shot #3) is a half-dose.

I would still plan a day of napping and taking it easy the day after the booster. :)

Argh, I didn't feel a muscular pain this strong two days, hardly 24 hours, after the second one, six months ago. Or maybe I do not recall it that well... it's not like I feel it all the time while at rest.
The only thing that upset me yesterday, until noon, was my aerophagia  ... stupid weather changes

In Catalonia, some 28000 people have been sick with covid-19 more than once, 330 up to three times and in one case there have been four infections.

The difference between just under 70% and 80% is serious, though. There are too bloody many idiot rednecks around here refusing to get vaccinated and refusing to wear masks.

It's been over four months since Pfizer has been approved. They keep authorizing Moderna for both boosters and other age groups, but it has yet to receive full FDA approval. Why hasn't Moderna still not been fully approved? This is more of a rhetorical question.

Because they're better at developing vaccines than they are at filling out the paperwork to get them approved. I'm being serious. I think they were only able to submit 6 months of data in their Aug BLA. The FDA is probably looking for closer to 12 months of data of followup from the subjects of their studies.

Ontario has locked down for awhile again....because it is all now about staffing shortages in hospitals and schools, etc.

But I believe it is now absolutely inevitable that every single person will contract it if they are in contact with anyone anywhere....not looking forward to it, but everyone who has it in their household or family indicate that it is just like the flu now.
