I just want to take a second of your time and wish my Partner a very, very Happy Anniversary!

We have been living happily together as of today.........27 beautiful, wonderful years in total love with each other.

For those of you who think that gay people do NOT have a chance of living together, I hope you will use our example of longevity, and make your relationship(s) work!

........and, Ron, sweety, thank you for loving me and allowing me to have all these happy, happy years with you.

Congratulations! But............

The 27yrs together that you have managed to achieve with your partner, are they not, in fact, the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow for the majority of us?

Is it hearing about such things, as with lottery winners, that keeps us desiring a long term relationship and buying lottery tickets? It will never happen for us but knowing that someone has won the trip to paradise keeps us dreaming that it could happen to us.

Are you not, in fact, one of those extremely rare exceptions who prove the rule that gay relationships are doomed to eventually failure? Are you not that hypothetical angel who comes to us in our despair to tell us "look I found true and long lasting love, it can happen to you"?

But then life is made of dreams so thank you for proving to us that some dreams can come true.

I disagree. Same-sex long term relationships, I believe, are more the norm now than the rest of the world realize. The reason we don't see or hear more about them is that very few of these couples are active in the gay activist community, and therefore pretty much blend into the scenery. My partner & I live in a tiny rural town and rarely go to gay events, clubs, etc. -- we simply don't have the need to, and are content with our lives. I've known several same-sex couples who have been together for more than 50 years. One day, perhaps, when we can have our relationships legally recognized through marriage, will more long-term gay couples be visible.
