Because the Church was created to control the masses. It is inbuilt in all religions to profess to be autonomous. It cannot be criticised. It cannot be questioned. In extreme cases (Islam) questioning the autonomy results in death.

Also this is just one sate and we have 50 and then how many countries in this world where this abomination of a church operates. I have met many gay men over the years that were taught by their priest. Police departments and the government have covered this up for years because they are involved in it as well as the churches.

I live in Pennsylvania and this has been a major story here.

More than 300 Roman Catholic priests in Pennsylvania molested more than 1000 children since the 1940s, and senior church officials systematically covered up the abuse. The real number of abused children might be in the thousands since some secret church records were "lost", and victims were afraid to come forward, according to a grand jury report released on 8/14/18.

In nearly all of the cases, the statute of limitations has run out, meaning that criminal charges cannot be filed. Many of the priests are dead or retired, while others have been dismissed from the priesthood or put on leave. Authorities have been able to charge just two. A bishop in Harrisburg actually wrote a letter to the Vatican in 2014 to lobby against removing two priests who had been suspended for sexual abuse (one confessed to fondling and performing oral sex on a child, the other admitted to repeatedly raping a girl starting when she was 8 years old), writing that he believed that the harm done "is being sufficiently repaired."

It seems that the world's largest safe haven for pedophiles and rapists is finally running out of rugs to sweep their evil deeds under. This wasn't stopped decades ago because millions and billions of mindless sheep need the shiny object of religion to guide them. Blind faith in cult leaders (catholic or otherwise) can make congregations stay silent or even become compliant when faced with wrong-doing. Criticism is strongly discouraged and can have bad consequences. I agree that there is a firm element of power and control involved. I, too, will never understand why people would want to boast about being catholic. As a proud atheist, my mind is clear to think for myself!

The grand jury report here has led to the opening of investigations in more than a dozen other states. Hooray! More are needed here and around the globe. There were cases here in PA in which police or prosecutors learned of clergy sex abuse allegations but did not investigate out of deference to church officials. Fucking outrageous!

Maybe the sheep will finally wake up and help bring these criminal institutions of "religion" crashing down!

So true! I was a toe-headed little blond boy who fell victiim to a Methodist preacher. He disappeared, I heard. But not to the place he should have gone.....on this Earth. Hell is still taking converts, I hear.

For the occasional pedophile teacher or pedophile scout master or policeman, tinker, candlemaker, whatever....criminal justice is swift and sure. Lying to investigators, aiding and abetting a felon? See how that plays out where you work. Not so for priests, bishops, cardinals....and whoever else. And we ask, "Why the FUCK are these predators and their protectors still walking around free?" Statute of limitations be damned. These guys are not violating boys and girls as a one off and then they're done. Fuck no. If Fr. Pedo did it 20 years ago and got away with it, you know...not surmise, guess, possilbly......you fucking know that it didn't stop there, and they have abused others recently enough to fall within the statutes. AND....that should restart the clock for those who had knowledge of their acitivities and not only did nothing to stop them, but kept their felonious behavior secret and pushed the perps into similar situations of authority over youth. The leadership of the RCC should and must be held accountable and pay for their crimes.

I went to a Church of Christ, pretty much to the right of churches. I was already gay when I was sent to the minister so he could "counsel" me, I stayed at his house for a while. I guess I have faggot on my forehead that certain people can see and he saw it, he had me tell him all about it. Next thing I knew we were in bed going at it. We spent over a week together at that time and spent every night in his bed with him. He was the minister that always seemed to get something in his sermon about gays burning in hell and then we usually had sex that afternoon or evening. I spent quite a few weekends with him, guess it's why I like older men.

Why I ended up at his house is that a principal at school who was a good guy befriended me. He got me to open up about physical abuse at home when I beat the hell out of 2 gym teachers determined to get me to dress for gym and found the marks on me from the waist down, gym teacher gave me a A in gym after that and I never again participated in his class. In talking to the principal the police were called and I was taken for a statement. We had a detective in our church and I sat there with the load lifted from me and knowing my dad was going to get prosecuted in walks the detective. He left with me and the police report. He took me to a citrus orchard and made some comment about how easy it would be for a boy to never be found here. He burned the report and threatened me. He also pulled my pants down and whipped my ass with a duty belt before dropping me off at the bus stop just as the bus was arriving. The next day at school the principal called me in and I told him what happened and he called the Sheriff, Sheriff shows up and told me that if I didn't stop reporting lies they would have me put in a youth facility and ruin my life and left. Detective had sent notice to all agencies that I was a liar and trying to get a innocent man arrested. He came to school this day, beat my ass again and 20 minutes later here comes dear old dad who took me out of the school mid year causing me to fail the year. I got another beating when I got home and dad asked who did that to me and I told him, he said I deserved it and that was start of the pants down beatings at home.


I have found over the years that the police, the prosecutors, the judges, the lawyers, courts, doctors, churches all are involved in this. Mostly rich elite types but they allow their underlings to swim in the pool as well. They are all in the churches so instead of letting themselves be tarnished for not seeing it they cover it up. I don't know that it will ever be stopped or can be stopped it goes so high up in the government of this and all countries. You wonder why our representatives wont represent us it is because they are all involved in this shit.

I'm sorry to hear of your experience. I think that some of it is changing for the better. I don't know if the change will continue or not.
