The tilde has different uses in language, math, logic, etc, but none seem related to public pooping.

It's also a homonym for Ms. Swinton, who is starring as Madame Blanc in the remake of Suspiria. Although we love her, I would much rather shit on a hot sidewalk than suffer the innovation.
