Thanks.

'iPhone combines the world’s most advanced mobile phone, the best iPod we’ve ever created, and the Internet in your pocket with rich HTML email, web browsing, searching and maps. With its sophisticated multi-touch interface and pioneering new software, iPhone completely redefines what you can do on a mobile phone'.

Now if I actually left my house for more than a few hours every week it might be worth me getting one; so far I've never even felt the need for a mobile phone or an iPod.

Sorry. I need my phone to interface with my clients' networks. iPhone is very much style over substance.

I'm constantly amazed that people bow and scrape to Apple -especially the ones who think they're striking some sort of moral blow by avoiding Microsoft. If Microsoft used Apple's business model, I'd be out of work, along with many thousands of other people. Of course, if we assume the same purchasing numbers for Apple as for Microsoft, Apple would be many times bigger than Microsoft in market capitalization and profit. They complain about Microsoft trying to own the world, but Apple's such a closed shop it's laughable.

i'd love to get my mitts on one, but i'm not putting $499 down on a cell phone.

period.

besides, i've yet to find a cell phone that can make intergalactic calls like my ring!

Most phones are just way too fuckin' complicated. And they have just 4 or 5 buttons that have to do the work of navigating and editing and selecting from menus and . . . it's such a pain in the ass to remember which button does what in which mode.

And synching is a major pain in the ass.

The user interface on the the iPhone is so easy to use, it's crazy. Did you see the videos and ads at the web site? Very slick. It's so obvious how to use it. Visual voice mail--what a great idea. "Squeezing" photos to enlarge or reduce them? Awesome.

And because it syncs with iTunes and iPhoto and Address Book and iCal, it's a piece of cake. All the data, all the cover art, all the people photos--everything comes across to the phone. My Palm Tungsten got its synching all screwed up and now all my categories on events and people are wrong. Ugh. Can't wait for an all-in-one solution.

My biggest concern is how much they're going to charge for monthly calls & data & texts. I'll use texting more than the phone, since the bf is Deaf.

let me see phone or ps3

how about neither ill save my money

if i go on a 2 year contract the phone is normally free
but the iphone only ticks 2 of the boxes on things i want in my next phone
1. good quality camera umm NO
2. 3G Nope
3. MP3 player yep but so does every phone on the market

nokia n73 looks good but am waiting till SE release there 5mp camera phone which would be awesome K850 but i dont know when its comming out

Then this is NOT the phone for you. Read the reviews about the touch screen. If you are an avid texter and your used to using a keyboard you are going to hate it.

Isn't anyone concerned about the battery? Remember the battery issues with the first series of ipods. Its built in and NOT removable. So that means those of you that listen to your ipod for hours will want the same performance out of an ipod and a phone. Its just not going to happen. And if you have any problems with it you won't be able to return it to and the AT&T store from which you purchased it. All warranty issues will have to be done at your local Apple store. That's fine if you live in a major metro area. If you don't you can always ship it to them and be without your ipod and your phone for at least 6 to 8 weeks if not longer.

Megapixel count has little to do with the quality of photos. In fact, the more megapixels on the same size chip introduces a ton of noise. No a better lens is far more important than megapixels. Ever compare an Apple iSight to some cheap videocam? Which looks better?

Mp3 player "just like any other"? Well, considering the iPod has 75%+ of the market, most people would disagree with you; and the iPhone is a much better iPod than any existing iPod.

You're right about the 3G, though. For my needs, I think the 2.5G will be "good enough" when I'm not near a WiFi hotspot. I live near a big metro area, so WiFi coverage is pretty good here.

I have LG's version of the touch-screen phone. The KE850. It was out before apple. And I don't have to deal with all the rubbish of the iphone. Oh, and it says Prada on it. How fab is that?

Personally I wouldnt get a iphone, purely because it apple. I just got the LG prada fone although I still prefer my Dolce&Gabbana Razr. Having said that Id buy anything with a label on it.

Reviews? How many "reviews" have there been--compared to speculation. Only a handful of reports have been of hands-on use, and those have only been for a few minutes.

And actually I'm not an avid texter yet, because I can't stand my current phone which doesn't have a querty keyboard so I have to type '2' three times to get a 'C'. Ugh. All the most common characters are 2 or 3 presses per button. The Treo and such are too thick and bulky, so I've been waiting for something different. I think I've found it. Only experience with a live iPhone will tell me if I like the touchscreen or not. I'm not a total fanboi of Apple's; I bought a Mighty Mouse and returned it 'cause it just didn't work for me. But I'm not paying any attention to uninformed speculation from "reviewers" who have never actually touched an iPhone.

That might be an issue. We'll have to see what their policy is. I live close to several Apple stores, so it's not an issue for me.

Isn't Apple a label? :p

I desperately want one of these things and have since I saw the video the day it was announced. I find it beautiful and far more useful than any phone I've ever owned.

That said, no way in hell am I dropping that much money on a damned phone that apparently doesn't have expandable memory, a user-replaced battery, and a 3G network.

It's like finding out that the gorgeous hunk you've been fascinating about isn't versatile, is dumb as a box of rocks and fucks like a tortoise--and wants to be paid for it.

the N73 is 3.2 mp with carl zeis lenses and the new sony has similarly high quality lenses as they are made as camera phones the iphone is not a camera phone and is only 2 mp so lower res and at best equal quality lenses i doubt they would be as good but i dont know for sure

i also have an ipod for mp3's so the mp3 player isn't of much consequence to me it was just a feature which would be nice

but the camera IS inferior to what i want and it has no 3G which are my 2 most wanted features why should i compromise on these you can spin it any way you want but it is not what i want and not what alot of people want

Well, 2.5G will probably only be in the US, anyway. It's rumored to have 3G before it reaches overseas.

Don't get your panties in a wad. :-)

Also, the whole point is that the iPod is built into the iPhone so you don't have to carry 2 devices around.

yea but the problem is battery life if you are using it for and ipod and a phone you are going to lose out after a while especially with no user replaceable batteries what are you going to do carry the charge cable where ever you go

and both of the phones I mentioned have mp3 players equal in sound quality or better than ipods anyway plus 3G data skype google msn yahoo ect built in and cost $0 on a contract for 2 years the iphone costs alot more $A800 -A$900 i really dont see the value when the competing phones have basically all of the features and none of the cost plus better features in some key areas for me

Wow that much! I got a brand new 3G one pay as you go, everything iphone has and more. Except less space, but its upgradable and I dont need to, as 1GB to much already!

My point was, that were £70! Why would anyone pay over £200 for summit you can get a differnet brand which is better and cheaper?

Because it's not better?

You've obvisouly had your head up your ass for a while, but iPhone has LOTS of features that your phone doesn't have. It's got lots of features that have never been seen before.

go to the apple site, check out all the videos about the features and capabilities of the iPhone.. then come back and tell us your phone is "better."
