So can the republican party be wiped out like how the WIG party was? Maybe it will be replaced by the libertarians or the Green party.

Re: 5 Red States Left? aka Ding, Dong the GOP is d

Bit premature, but one can only hope. The world wouldn't mourn the passing of a coalition of uptight, ultra-capitalist biggots and self-righteous, supersticious and outright mental god-botherers.

LOL, how is North Carolina solid democratic?

That map is not really accurate.

Re: 5 Red States Left? aka Ding, Dong the GOP is d

Matthew I think this song is more appropriate for the thread.

Indeed Marley! :gogirl:

I'm very happy to see that Texas is now considered "competitive, and is out of the "red." ..|

It shows that the Texas Democrats are beginning to retake our Great State! (!)

Ding, Dong, the Bitch is Dead (or dying), the Wicked Bitch is gone (or going), and Dead (or dying)!

Maybe when (if) the GOP gets their shit together, they'll recognize that there are more than two colors within the fabric of American politics, instead of red and blue, and black and white.

Seriously though I'm glad to see them on the run a bit. Maybe they will rethink this allegiance with the fundamentalist a bit and so some real soul searching, not mind controlling.

But, I wouldn't want to see them gone. We need a balanced two party system to keep each other in check. Here in Massachusetts we have all sorts of bogus issues based on the Democrats controlling most of the state for several decades now. There is plenty of corruption and favoritism to go around.

No wonder the Independents are the biggest party in the state, though I'll admit they do tend to vote along Democratic party lines. So maybe it's just a gesture that so many of them pulled out party years ago. Some moderate Republicans - not associated with the Southern or Western gang - would do the state some good.

A wounded animal is very dangerous! Don't take your eyes off of one or become inattentive.

It isn't a Bear.. it's a bunch of conservative old men and "mavericks" who often can't tell the difference between a lime and a lemon, plus the few actual intelligent one's who are there for the economic conservatism.

Re: 5 Red States Left? aka Ding, Dong the GOP is d

This is just based on regisration and has no basis on reality. Texas is "competitive" but in reality its solid republican - it has a shitload of conservative democrats who always vote republican (McCain won 55% there!). Same with the entire South. The messiah barely won states like Florida, NC, Ohio, Virginia, indiana, despite their apparent democrat advantage, 2 points in the other way would have been a GOP win.

Montaha, the dakotas, oklahoma, louiosiana, teneesee competitive or lean dem? arkansas and ketncuky and west virginia solid dem? are you fucking kidding me - O didn't even compete in those states! he was big loser htere and knew it, didnt waste time

Remember, 2008 was a fluke due to hatred of Bush and a bad economy. and it was still fairly close - a closer race than 92, 96, and deinifeely 88, 84, or 80 (reagan's blowout year).

the GOP was at a far worse place in 1964, when goldwater won like 5 states and the dems had 2/3 of the senate and house basically. yes, 2/3. and 4 years later guess what? nixon wins.

so there. we've been in far worse places. and we've come back stronger than ever. it will happen again when the messiah gets us in major trouble economically and safety wise

I'm so tired of Repubs being portrayed as religious nut-jobs. Like it or not, the majority of people in this country are in the middle. People don't like govt. telling them what's best for them, taking their hard-earned money for wasteful spending, and limiting our civil-liberties. I know most dems., and liberals would say that repubs are taking away civil liberties, but consider what libs have successfully banned, because they think they know what's best for you.

I keep hoping the Lone Star Party will merge with the Libertarians and kick both the establishment parties out.

Don't you have Carla Howell there?

She'd be much better for you than "Pork" Kennedy.

Huh -- Jesus wasn't on our ballot.

Who are, incidentally, led by a gaggle of closet-cases.

^^ Still watching. Luckily this wounded animal is eating itself right now.

Send the Alaskan moose mama to put it out of its misery.

Please.

Re: 5 Red States Left? aka Ding, Dong the GOP is d

Depends on what kind of animal it is. If it's a wounded lion, yes. If it's a wounded hamster? Not so much. Course the GOP was never as cute as a lion or a hamster. Unless it was a hamster with a huge cancerous growth growing out of the side of it's head.

Wounded frogs aren't much of a worry either. :p

That's conceivable, but not likely.

Prior to Tom DeLay, and the GOP take over all of the State Wide elected seats in Texas, it use to be that no matter which party banner an elected representative won their seat under, once they were sworn in they did what was right for the people of Texas.

Since the GOP has been in control for nearly 12 years now, our State Parks have fallen into disrepair, our schools are failing, are air is more polluted, and our environment is less protected, and handful have gotten richer, while the rest have been left to fend for themselves.

This didn't happen because of "less government" it happened because the foxes were put in charge of watching the hen houses, and Government has been nothing more than representatives of those who have the most money to invest in their local representatives; either through the election process, or through legislation.

The battles in Austin have been more about partisan power struggles, and political positioning than about governing.

So it could happen. I just don't see how at this point.

Though, in the last Governor's Race, we have our first "Independent" (Kinky Friedman) and he faired better than most.

Like I said earlier in this thread, I'm glad that Texas is no longer listed as a "Red State." :D

I'd vote for him just because:

1. he's not an establishment party guy
2. the name :p

They cant tell the difference between a White Supremacy and a Heritage symbol either

What have the liberals successfully banned?
