If democrats do get the needed votes to overcome a filibuster, which is very precarious because of joe lieberman, i would want them to

1. nationalize healthcare, taking the insurance companies out of it, or at least give people the option to enroll in free healthcare.

2. Revoke every corrupt government agency starting with the FDA, the FCC and the NSA. dont forget the Federal reserve.

3. put limits on executive power.

4. enact strict consumer protection laws for everything, especially food.

5. repeal no child, the medicare drug benefit for drug companies & the patriot act.

6. heavily regulate banks and finance companies that cause national recessions.

7. make it easier for citizens to hold elected officials accountable.

8. legalize gay marriage on a national level, or at least take away government benefits to the married so there is no discrimination.

9. give states their powers back and reduce the reach of the national government.

10. expand the power of congress against the president.

11. outlaw gotcha capitalism and corporate control of the media.

12. and, while slightly unconstitutional, give states the right to have preference for native born or permanent residents over people from other states. i think this is important because someone who moves here and hasnt paid any taxes should not be eligible for the same benefits as life long residents who have been voting in that state their whole life.

Oh man.

The White House and a filibuster-proof majority.

This is a recipe for disaster, no matter which party is in power.

Careful what you wish for.

i think democrats have at least 1 disaster owed to them after the bush years.

Comments like this --and I've heard them in a lot of ways from Obama supporters-- are troubling to say the least.

The "give me! I want! I deserve!" entitlement is narcissistic and destructive, and look how fast that comes into play: "I'm owed the chance to screw things up for everybody." Obama showed he has the same attitude when he answered the "is health care a right or a responsibility" question with "it's a right." Navigating successfully through hard times needs people in power with a sense of responsibility, not entitlement.

We're headed into a very difficult period, which I've noticed 20/30-somethings seem incapable of comprehending. There are a lot of signs of that disconnect; just this past week for instance, turning a presidential debate into a drinking game. Fiddling while Rome burns.

From Bush & Co to this, we're leaving a Baby Boomer frat party and headed into a Me Generation frat party. Our nation will discover this was a bad time to toss the grown ups under the bus.

^ Because the grown ups have done such a good job with the economy, foreign wars, the environment, etc.?

This transition to new generation ideas is an inevitable process and the sooner you learn to deal with it the better. LOL.

George Bush et al are not grown ups, a point I made by calling them a Baby Boomer frat party.

I'm eager for a new generation of ideas. SO eager! And some 20/30-somethings amaze me with their clarity and generosity, curiousity, wisdom and maturity. If you stopped by you'd find a couple of them at my house this weekend.

But the majority, those who are so vocal about supporting Obama it seems, are just as juvenile, entitled, and carelessly destructive as the Bush crowd.

That's just your projection and your hobby horse.

Other people, including many Hillary supporters like myself, see intelligence, enthusiasm, social compassion and forward thinking.

#9 is kind of contrary to some of the other things on your list and will never happen anyway.

Number 3 will happen if Obama wins. Reid and Pelosi will control Washington. Not the president. The US government will go hard left.
