What brand should I buy? I want a 1TB or larger.

All of the reviews I saw for Seagate said they suck. Are there any other brands I should stay away from?

I already own a Western Digital, but I have had problems with it.

SEAGATE? BAD reviews?

Holy crap......I've read nothing but good about the Seagate FreeAgent Go drives (except it needs 2 usb ports).
Seagate is the only one left (AFIK) who offers a 5 year warranty too.

I read those too........ #-o
Go for professional reviews.
There's way too many users who are lucky enough to get an email sent.
Cnet.com PCworld.com and pcmag.com will give you some honest reviews.

I've read Seagate tend to be a little noisier, W-D quieter, but both get decent overall reviews.

How many people that love a product will go and review it? Only people that have problems with something go and do a review. Never trust user reviews.

I've had mixed experiences with my EHDs, both that I have now are WD. The older one of about 5 years, which is about the size of a paperback book and requires a separate power cable, has never given me any problems and is still reliable.

The other is a Passport, the size of a deck of cards and does not use a separate power cable. It has never been reliable. It randomly disconnects and when it does, it crashes my computer. Although I don't know if it is the EHD hardware, or just crappy drivers for Vista.
