so there is this guy i met at the office. we are both in our late 20s. Hes been pretty flirtatious with me, and he told me i should go and "get my sideburns reshaped". He also complimented my eyes in a weird way. "those blue eyes probably save you" he said. When a coworker heard this he said "uhhh i dont like them but girls do". (i dont know if this guy is gay or not). The person that overheard this said to him "i don't want to have a discussion about how pretty his eyes are" (they were talking about me!) He then changed the topic with the straight co-worker that overheard about pretty female eyes. also, he invited me to lunch and he paid! he also acted shy, i did most of the talking, and he could barely look me in the eye. He doesnt know i am gay either. Also, if i brush up against him, or my arm touches his, he WONT BUDGE (i know people that are not interested/grossed out will pull away). He always passes the touch test. What do you think? am i on to something here? he also talks about different women with co-workers but never me. And if he sees i am overhearing, he watches my reactions closely. He also had an electronic/techo music CD playing in his car when we were going to lunch. He also laughs at EVERY SINGLE one of my lame jokes and will repeat what i say with a genuine laugh

difficult situation.

Workplaces are bad for this sort of thing, are you already out there?

Maybe invite him out for a drink after work or something, do something that is fairly neutral first instead of just going "HEY BUDDY ARE YOU GAY? WANNA GO OUT"

Three issues.

1.Work is work. Don't EVER mix love relationships with work. That means co-workers, clients, etc.

2.I'm assuming you do not know if he is attracted to men or not. Based on what you mentioned, those are just stupid stereotypes an he might just be a straight guy who is comfortable with his sexuality to touch other men.

3.I also agree with what chris said. In general, this is just a situation you need to stay away from. You are more than welcome to become close friends with him though.

Never shit where you eat.

On the other hand, the best way to sort this out is for you to tell him that you are a homo and see where it goes from there.

If it was indeed true love, would you want to miss out on this?

Even if one of you had to find another job?

I have taken many metaphorical dumps in my breakfast hamper and I can say from experience that it is the easiest way to meet people and the easiest way to fuck up a satisfactory workplace.

Although if it is a communal brotherhood kind of experience (like in many military/policing situations) where you often are quite close to each other, indiscretions often happen and are just part of the fun of being each others support (yes speaking from experience).

Unfortunately I don't think the OP is in that sort of situation #-o

Being out eliminates a lot of guess work. If that's not possible then the cat and mouse game ensues. A lot of people mix relationships and work but it can get dicey. My husband and I did it for 6-8 months many years ago and almost killed each other. I wouldn't advise it unless it's a huge workplace and you aren't working side by side.

well i guess he does like me. one of his close friends told me. She said he thinks i am sooo cute. how should i proceed with this at the workplace?

nachocheez, you wouldn't happen to have any relation to the person who owns the account named "goodbadenergy" here on JUB, would you?

goodbadenergy was called out for bullshitting. He posted a series of threads here, but also duplicated them verbatim on another forum, EmptyClosets. The two versions of the same thread quickly diverged in details and the conclusion was drawn that he was making things up. goodbadenergy hasn't posted again since his cover was blown.

The thing is, you have also posted a verbatim copy of this thread on EmptyClosets, and your replies there are starting to diverge from what you have said here. Your writing style is also identical to goodbadenergy's.

I would post links to the threads I've mentioned, but I need 25 posts to do that. goobadenergy's thread is titled "Does he like me or is he clowning?"
