A healthcare system based on maximizing profits is unethical

If you build cars for profit you have to be efficient and have a good product to stay in the black and make money. If you make crap cars or take to long to produce them you can't just raise prices to compensate. People will turn to your competitors or maybe bikes or mass transit.

The health care industry in America is notorious for being inefficient and expensive. The costs are passed on to the insurance companies and inevitably the consumer who doesn't have an alternative. Top this off with the fact that the American worker hasn't seen a true pay increase in over 50 years and you will see disgruntled people.
This doesn't justify murdering anyone, it does show that our nation has to take a fresh look at health care for all Americans.

It looks like our boy wanted to get caught, he had plenty of money, he could have eaten anywhere, but he chose the busiest brightly lit joint where it was certain that he would be spotted. Carrying a written mission statement that is an admission of guilt is doing the cops work for them.
If Kyle Rittenhouse can get away with his ludicrous self defence claim, it is no more outrageous to call this execution a self defence against an industry that kills it's customers at a rate that would make Assad jealous.

But it WAS Altoona. I believe anyone could hide out there. It's nondescript even for Pennsylvania.

Maybe it is fucking time that Americans stopped being such pussies about getting ripped off and started making some fucking noise.

Yeah. Using figures from an article yesterday I calculated that the profits taken by medical insurance companies last year was sufficient for every legal resident of the U.S., children and adults, to have had three $50 doctor visits -- every single person.

Another issue with our health care in America is that it ties a worker to an employer. If you change jobs it takes 90 days in most cases to get health care from your new place of employment. But, let's say that a person has been unemployed and is receiving some type of "government" subsidized health care and finds a job. if they crunch the numbers they find that there is no net gain in taking a job or a job that offers no health care benefits at all.

Why take a job where you stand the risk of losing everything from food stamps to Medicaid or Obamacare? Why would a person start a business rather than to work for a larger company where health insurance is a benefit?

A few weeks ago, I spoke to an acquaintance about this, she quickly replied that she didn't want socialized medicine. I asked her how she felt about public education, roads, libraries, fire departments and military/ police department. Mind you, most folks readily take their social security and Medicare with little to no protest.
We need schools, cops, armies, roads and yes, health care. Necessities shouldn't be available only to the wealthy.

Every day, I am baffled that the US has not only not figured out how to do a universal healthcare system but that it is utterly resistant to doing it.

Meanwhile. the highest costs per case and the worst outcomes.

They know how and they know it will work. The problem is that both parties are owned by the industries. I was at meetings when Obama care was being put together, the wealthy democrats were terrified of losing their Cadillac coverage and wanted "some form" of basic care for the people in need.

I grew up without health insurance, back in the 1960's care was primitive when compared to todays standards. When my dad had an aneurism a pneumoencephalography or air study was used to find it, fast forward 15 years and you find MRI and CT scans being used. Noninvasive but expensive, all of the advances have had a major impact on health care costs, add to this the rising number of uninsured and under insured people in our nation plus corporate greed and we have a genuine crisis on our hands.

Most who have read my posts can surmise that I believe in a person doing their best to get ahead, pulling their own weight and being responsible for their own wellbeing and that of their families. However, we no longer live in a time when you take a chicken with you to give to the doctor. Government by its verry definition is meant to govern. Child labor laws, minimum wage and OSHA fly in the face of unfettered capitalism and rightfully so. Antitrust laws were passed to keep corporations in check.

I am sure that if we were to take all of the government programs such as Obamacare, Medicaid, Medicare, the VA and combine them along with regulating monies spent on advertising and marketing that we could have a single payer system where all are covered. We need to eliminate advertisements that tell us what medications we need to ask for when we see our doctors. There is plenty of fat that can be cut.
