Does anyone know what will happen if Melinda (loved absolutely lovely today) and Lakisha tie in the final?

Will there be another sing off? or will the judges have the final say?

And what if 2 people tie and get the lowest votes in the bottom 3, do they both go home?

i'm not sure, but i think it's pretty much impossible to get an exact tie with hundreds of thousands of ppl voting.. tho i guess they probably would have a sing-off in the highly unlikely event of a tie..

When you're getting vote totals of over 30 million, and that number usually goes up as the season progresses, you do the math. There will be a statistically significant difference between first and second in the finale and between the bottom two for elimination each week.

The year when Ruben beat Clay there was a difference of "only" 120,000 votes and the show was calling the results "extremely close". Um, that's enough people to populate a small city.

I don't put a lot of faith in dialidol, but except for the first pre-lim week, though they are always 1 and 2, Melinda's score has been higher than Lakisha's by a measurable amount.

that's kinda like asking what will happen if their's a tie in the popular vote of the presidential election... will nothing the popular vote counts for nothing but you know what I mean

Not when you realize it's 120,000 votes and not necessarily 120,000 people... the whole multiple voting thing kind of destroys the credibility of the system although I understand they really don't have much of a choice.

Honestly--that show is so staged, there wouldn't be a tie unless the producers wanted there to be one.

It does seem a bit staged, but yea to boost ratings a tie would be fun.

And Ryan clearly does not like Sanjaya because on his E show he said, "ok America i know you like Sanjaya's changing hair, but come on people its a singing competition."

He shouldnt have said that, its like he is trying to influence the public.

Jasmine Treas went all the way to top 3 so its more a popularity contest than the best singer.

Why did Sanjaya make it to hollywood in the first place and then when he gets there the judges that put him there always are bashing him.

I do think his sister was better but still its not right how they treat him on that show.

in fairness to the judges, sanjaya sounded good (and better than his sister) during they're first audition.. i think alot of it might be nerves, but he's never sounded better than he did that first day..
