I'm currently prospecting for a new car since I totaled my last ride, which happened to be a 2008 Scion tC. When I first got my past car, I knew it was the car I wanted, so no trouble in having to choose. Now, however, I'm just not sure what's a good next car. So, I've compiled a list, and would like to get some opinions. This list doesn't represent all the cars I've researched. So, what are your thoughts?

What color are you thinking.... and may I suggest silver.

BTW, how did you total your other vehicle? If you were in a wreck maybe you should go with a

Somewhere around the $20,000 range, which these cars represent. Yeah, a sedan or coupe.

I was thinking I would like a ride that was black or grey, silver is certainly a fine color. I'm not that fond of the more vibrant colors, i.e. red, blue etc.; stock paint jobs in those colors usually aren't attractive.

I was traveling home on a highway when a car pulled out in front of me to u-turn, and when I switched lanes to give him the left lane, they pulled all the way out into the right lane (which you're not supposed to do) and I jerked my car to miss, and flipped that shit over a ditch and gravel parking lot, to land upside approx. 20 ft. from a building. The Scion tC held up surprisingly well, I must add.

If I didn't detest Hummers for being outrageously expensively gas guzzling monstrosities it would be a great idea. Ha.

Check out the Mitsubishi Lancer hatchback or a Peugot convertible.

Thanks, greyhorse. I really haven't checked out any Mitsubishis. I know they are popular among the racing and custom crowds. They have a market for Peugeot in the USA? I've never heard of em. But convertibles are out; don't care for em. Too dangerous, especially after my experience (refer above).

well toyota is having a great sale on their 2010 camry.

But I would personally go for a honda or nissan. They're dependable and look younger than camry.

but hey, if you are up for pre-owned. I would totally find a mercedes or lexus :)

Maybe I should suggest an Abrams tank! But they usually come in gunmetal gray or OD green, or even desert cammo.

All of my friends are Honda enthusiasts, and insist I should be, too. I've looked into the Honda Civics, you definitely hear a lot about Honda's reliability. I don't know, Mercedes and Lexus' seem like too much of a statement. The only Nissan I'll ever love is the GT-R, and that's not gonna happen unless I hit the lotto.

*squeals* I wanna have sex with it.

LOL. I'm not expecting to hit an IED. But, if they were street legal - FUCK YEAH!

2011 Scion tC

The Hyundai is over styled and may look dated early the warranty would be the only big plus. The Mazda is a great choice on every level. My good friend has a Scion I went with him to buy it and is a great car. Other than the Hyundai you really can't lose, the Mazda is a fresher design and has a more upscale interior and the Scion is overdue for a refresh but they are both quality products. You might want to check out the new Fiesta as well it is a bit smaller but is a hot looking little car. We got the European model with only minor changes this time. The Civic doesn't look good as a four door at all the two door is a good looking car but the interior looks like something from a b movie version of a space ship.

I kinda liked the new styling flare Hyundai threw into the Sonata, better than the flat old design. But, yeah, I agree that it could begin looking dated early. I keep going back to the Mazda. I went to a local dealer to check it out, and it really is a nice car, great price, too. The new 2011 Scion tC did get a makeover, the pic I posted is the redesign. However, the opinions I've read from forums hate, hate, hate the new design, very little love. What do you think, since your friend has a Scion tC? I'll definitely look into what the Fiesta is about.

Of the 3 cars you listed, I'd go with the Mazda. But if you were open to buying a used car, I'd go with something else. You could get a used Acura TSX or maybe a TL. You could get a used Mazda 6 or an older BMW 3 series. Maybe an Infiniti G series? Many great choices in the used category for $20k. Let us know what you decide.

My suggestions:

Volkswagen GTI or (cheaper) Golf
A base Audi A3 is gorgeous (if you don't mind paying extra for a pimped out GTI)
Ford Fiesta 5-door hatchback
Mitsubishi Lancer GTS Sedan (the hatch looks too quirky, well, unless you like quirky)
Suzuki Kizashi (don't be fooled by the maker, this car is hot!)
If you insist on going Honda, get a Honda Fit.

I'm not really a fan of sedans though. I love me some coupes or a 5-door hatchback.

How about Mitsubishi Eclipse? They look damn fine

2009_mitsubishi_eclipse_coupe_2.jpg

Well it should come as no surprise what i would suggest you buy. I have owned two and for 20k you will get a loaded to the gills Mazda3.

I would suggest you get the five door....it has just as much passenger room and yet can carry more stuff if your doing a weekend somewhere. Plus it looks much more european which is what drew me to the design to begin with.

I wish it was time for a new car for me... I love the process and the new feel...meh...one more year

They look really fuckin sexy in person too:

The interior is a dream...to me. Everything is right where it should be....and a fuckin thrill to drive

Oh and I forgot to add... it tested very well on crash test.

I can attest to that...it is the first car I have wrecked that i didnt sell shortly after... It came back together very well.

I hit a 185 pound deer doing around 90 and then still managed to get 25 more miles down the road to a exit.... it was mangled as shit but stuck it out.....Love this fuckin car
