Today I felt like cooking one my favorite food and I was picturing this party scene in my head with all the Jubbers crowding around a buffet to grab as much as possible, so please accept this basket of ( ! ) in sign of love and prosperity:

Some of you who have been to an italian restaurant might be able to tell what these are, but let's see who guesses first :)

The pictures are not working for me. I look forward to seeing them though!

My favourite!!!!!!!

Square Hot Cross buns; my favourites. :D

My Sicilian family also calls them sfingi!

Haha not fair! You were advantaged!

But, can you name the special ingridient that's inside? :)

Yes, they are visible now. Thanks.

Are they savory instead of sweet? I see green spots, so broccoli, or okra?

Their shapes suggested wild mushrooms.

I'm hungry!

Well now I'm insanely hungry for fried food.

I'm going to nip it and make a bowl of bran cereal with strawberries added.

Square Hot Cross buns; my favourites. :D

I'm not sure they're the same thing. I think buns are like small sandwiches, aren't they?
While these are deep fried and are salty.

Savoury. The green bits that you see are oregano leaves. They don't usually use that to add an aroma, they just make a bed of rosemary and put "Frittelle" on top. At restaurants you can ask these for the appetizer and it's common to have them with seaweed inside.

Yet, there's another ingridient that can be found more often inside, it's the main ingridient for this recipe actually, that's the way they taught me anyway. I am mad about it but I know that it can be a turn off for many people. Let's see if the italians here remember what I'm talking about :)

Are the deep fried brussels ?

Whatever they are they looks mighty tasty.

Oh man those look really good! I could go for something to eat right about now actually lol. I wonder if I could get those here? :)

There are still some left but they would lose their crunchiness during the travel

Nope, they are basically a dough made with flour and yeast. Then you can add pieces of anything you like in it.

I've never had them with oregano inside of them. My grandmother used to make them sweet, then cover them with honey and sprinkle cinnamon and confectioner's sugar on top of them. If I recall, she used to put anise seed or anise oil in the batter.

Well the addition of oregano is a variation of mine, but you're talking about the "zeppole" or "graffe" which are sweet, like these:

The ones I made are called "frittelle con le acciughe", there are anchovies inside. Yep, that was the secret ingrEdient (damn I've been typing "ingridient" all the time).

Good thing you got the Norwegian anchovies. Anything Norwegian is better.
