Applebee's closed their center city Philadelphia location...but there are still bunches in the suburbs, and in Atlantic City. Maybe I'll try...

I checked. Although Applebee's is international, they have no European locations yet.
And I doubt the drink specials are available in their Kuwait, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, UAE, and Jordan locations.

Mightn't they be pound cocktails?

Even at £1, I'd still be up for it.

I'm bereft.

Applebee's had decent food the few times I've been. There are better places for the same price and heck, I can cook at least as well.

Thinking of kitchen cleanliness... I remember a Mad Magazine cartoon that showed a really long rag, with one guy using one end in the kitchen to do dishes and another guy using the other end to scrub a toilet.

I think they were suggesting a fix that could be marketed: the "McSpecialized Rag" or something like that.

I've been to Applebee's once when I had lunch with my father one time. He wanted to go there for some odd reason--but his wife refused to set foot in the place. I can't honestly remember much about the experience, so it was probably not that great, but not so terrible that it would be memorable now.

Part of me is curious about the Dollarita. But apart from that, I don't have much interest in going back there. And frankly, I doubt the curiosity about the Dollarita will compel me to go.

Forgot to mention this cartoon was making fun of McDonalds.

My dogs are house broken.
my point was about restaurants and their lack of cleanliness. they pay servers $2/hr in my state, nobody's gonna take cleanliness seriously at those wages. just the little i've seen of the kitchens are filthy with dirty utentils and mold around beverage stations.

smart man. i have several bartender friends. sales like this operate by putting, like, .000000000005 oz of liquor in the drink, people come ordering them thinking "i'm about to get shit-faced, stumbling drunk for $5!!!!!!" then complain when, shock "I can't taste the alcohol!" bish you literally didn't pay for any alcohol. if i didn't have "inside info" i'd still be skeptical and would be able to deduce on my own that the drink is 96% sour mix and juice.

gun to my head, if it's a friends bday and i have to go to a place doing this, the correct way to do it would be to order the dollarita and pay for an extra shot (or three) to mix in yourself.

I did the bartending stuff for a few years. Never ever ever shorted folks on their dose of booze. Sure, I knew it's like 3 seconds to pour an ounce. But. Always use a shot glass with well marked one ounce line. Give a little extra splash as part of their drink, dress it with a nice slice of lime or orange or a cherry with a stem. Make it pretty, Smile. Get a nice tip in the jar.
