A reason to visit...Applebee's?

I have eaten at Applebee's several times over quite a few years. I thought it was okay, neither good nor bad. Of course I am not a connoisseur and I use it as a restaurant and don't order any drinks.

I did the bartending stuff for a few years. Never ever ever shorted folks on their dose of booze. Sure, I knew it's like 3 seconds to pour an ounce. But. Always use a shot glass with well marked one ounce line. Give a little extra splash as part of their drink, dress it with a nice slice of lime or orange or a cherry with a stem. Make it pretty, Smile. Get a nice tip in the jar.
Chain restaurants are waaaay more strict and they have specific recipes and measurements for bartenders to follow, those who take liberties are terminated. Alcohol inventory is monitored like it's the end of days.*

*Gonna be honest, full disclosure, when I worked at Applebees we stole from the bar. A LOT. Mostly just a round or two of shots, a beer or two here and there, but on REALLY bad nights when management or customers wore us thin, I'd literally just walk behind the bar and start grabbing full bottles and cases of beer, with my coworkers giving me a shopping list from the sidelines. "Get a case of hard cider!" Good times. :gogirl:Come to think of it, after close, we'd smoke cigarettes inside the restaurant too.

Applebee's is afflicted with Blanding Syndrome, but there are worse things to say about a restaurant chain. A great number of diners want safe fare, so there is a market.

I go to Applebees just for the appetizers. Their breadsticks with beer cheese sauce is really good.

Applebees is a good place to go and socialize with friends over a drink if you’re not into the bar scene.
