And there in lies the rub, we see humans as worth less than ally cats. We are a virus upon the planet according to some. We only cause problems. Why then should we care if a man kills 58 in Vegas? or a young man kills 17 in Florida? Should Sandy Hook matter?
Why, after all, they were just humans that cause global warming and the death of innocent animals.

Using highly-emotional language like "murder" doesn't work on black people, Americans call doctors performing a medical procedure murderous monsters but when a policeman murders an unarmed person he's a hero doing his job. False dichotomies only work on people who see the world as black/white, part of the human experience is deeply entrenched in the nuances and details so you'll find me somewhere in between "Hooray let's kill a bunch of babies!" and "Sometimes it's necessary."

Well...my idea of "God" is more in line with Mother Nature...and I do believe that animals and planets and the earth itself are a delicate and complex ecoystem that man thinks he can control and be the master of for power and greed....which shows how stupid we truly are as a species....

Why would humans be "more important"?

That was unintentional, I meant no offense. I am in plain language in favor of more black births in our nation, I want them to play in the warm sun, splash in puddles and feel the air of the different seasons on their skin. If we don't interfere nature works. The more blacks that there are, the less of a minority they become. The greater voice they have in the voting booth.

More blacks die from violence than school children, be it black on black or cop on black. If I as a white man find it less disturbing that a black dies from a gun shot than I would if a white dies then I need to inspect my values. All lives matter, from the womb to the tomb.

The lion sees her self as more important than a water buffalo and will have one for dinner. Survival is hard wired into all species.
 
Has life become cheap in the United States?

According to the news and mass shootings and they didn't do anything about it,
yes life seems cheap in the USA.

We have always had guns, we have not always had mass shootings, drive by shootings or fetal termination. Cops have not always shot first and then checked for a weapon. We as a people have lost our regard for human life.

Animals kill for survival...we kill for alot of other reasons....

I don't see human beings as superior. Destroying your planet and only home for power and greed is insane...especially when you advocate for the birth of ALL children the planet cannot sustain which you didn't address...

Do you think these children are gonna thank this generation in the future? Wasting the planet and the resources so a handful of people can get rich?

It may not be politically correct for me to say this, but human lives are more important than other animal lives.

If we overpopulate nature will solve that problem. I do not oppose birth control, wear a condom, get snipped or take a pill. Again, this thread is not about pro choice verses pro life, though it is part of the bigger picture. Our contempt and disdain for ourselves speaks volumes when it come to the reasons one can use to justify killing in his own mind.

I don't agree. We as a society value human lives just as much today as before. The difference is nowadays we have 24hr coverage on every single thing out there and the internet for information to spread like wild fire.

Let's look at it this way. How many tens of thousands died in Vietnam? How many millions died in WW2? Was there coverage for each soldier that died in those cases?

Now look back at Iraq. Every single US soldier's death was covered and repeated non-stop.

So, I would argue that the value of human life is the same now as before. We just see more death and destruction now because of improvement in information flow.

I wouldn't frame the rest of the discussion with pro/anti choice as part of it. I think the rest of the discussion gets lost because pro-anti choice is such a divisive topic that I cannot address anything else before I address that one point.

I am always going to be 1000% more concerned about the quality of life of the people who are already here....

A fetus is not a life in my eyes. It is a potential life....but the other potentials that exist make me comfortable to leave the decisions to the mother. I would actually like some people to not have children..to get them fixed. Women who have been found guilty of child abuse...I am OK with them having their tubes tied...and the men....vasectomies work for me.
