  • Hi Guest - Did you know?
Hot Topics is a Safe for Work (SFW) forum.

A simple thank you would be nice

Mark, you've consistently posted about your perceived lack of popularity on JUB. I don't think JUB popularity means doodley-squat.

Your stated anxiety issues would be likely at work here, so I'd hope you can find self-help books to aid you if you cannot get actual therapy sessions or group help.

You bring to JUB what you bring, as who you are. I've never seen anything of you on the forum that I found untoward. We don't share your interest in bodybuilding and some other interests, but I find you a welcome presence on the boards.

Try to think of JUB more as a place where conversation may be found to keep your mind stimulated, not your ego stroked.

I've posted almost 15,000 posts over the years here, and most of them lengthy, but I have no delusions that they are welcomed by even a simple majority of the readers. Most of them are helping me to sort out my own thoughts by having to put them in words.

Sure, there may be the added advantage of thinking I am annoying Bendy with posts longer than a short sentence, but that is just a perk, not a measure of my success. ;)

TL/dr

Ive been participating. My profile will show that

That's not what I meant. I meant that others participating in threads you've started or responding to your posts is an appreciation of your presence and your posts.

I wonder if Bender gets thanks for all the boners he's given to guys with his porn pics? Other than Cupid, I mean.

Deja,
Im not crazy about that word 'consistently'. I have mentioned it but not a diatribe.

I have some self help books on my bookshelves

"You bring to JUB what you bring, as who you are."
- I know my stuff is not for everyone and your comment is what I should remember

Im not looking for my ego to be stroked.

Mark, i too find you a welcome member of this board, we have exchanged comments, and i appreciate the time and effort you put into preparing your threads....(*8*)

Thank you Medic ;-)

This....be who you are....while respecting all.....and don't worry what others think about you.

To thine own self be true
(Lets see if word scholar Deja knows what that means he he)

I dont know what that means

Gotcha BBN

I find our interests are not similar.

BUT I do really appreciate your tutorials - like the one you mentioned today re Screen Captures. Many of them I have marked as favorites. I am a tech doofus.

I know something new on my computer!!!!!!!! THANKS!!

If my vague memory serves, this is at least your 3rd thread on the general subject... but I'm lumping your, "Why doesn't anyone like me" ones with the, "Why doesn't anyone appreciate all I do around here" & "TV/Movie upload" threads.

I remember it because, I believe in the last one you got pissed off at me and self deleted.

ps:
As I have said but let me pound it home, I really had an Oprah a-ha moment when Kahaih said "The more you give, the more people will take you for granted."

I enjoy what I do and as long as I know others dont get the thank yous, Ill chalk it up to 'the internet experience'.

I think it also comes from the fact that I dont have a legitimate job like others, they get their appreciation from work (hopefully) when they have done a job well done.

I think rather than diving into various threads, I should just have one thread where I place all my stuff.

For example, I learned the other day that Julia Louis Dreyfuss is worth $3 billion. I had no idea and I thought it was interesting (and others may not). So if I just stick it in one thread, I can just leave it there.

And for those who have suggested me starting a board (Ive heard that suggestion in the past), I dont like the other aspects you have to deal with when you have your own board. Things like fighting among board members.

Palbert,
I am very happy that that has helped you. Rather than writing down some long serial number or code, I find taking a snapshot of it much easier. But if you lose the image, then youre screwed ;-)

My sister is doing a blog about home business and she wanted to use tutorials Ive made to help those who may not quite computer savy.

Borg,
I didnt know if I should mention 'my observation' in a new thread. Instead, I added it to the tv alert thread so it was just out there. I had no plans to start a thread about the topic. But since I dont have any idea who may have seen (or not seen) the post, I decided to start a thread.

And I really dont want to be that guy to come across as someone seeking attention. Its easier to start a fight with someone if I wanted attention. Can I call you a 'stupid fuck'? lol

Rareboy,
Thank you for the thank you

(and Im really wasnt looking for a bunch of ego stroking when I wrote this. Honest)

LOL You wouldn't be the first... Get in line with the rest of 'em!!! :) Take a number and wait your turn.

Deja,
I cant be bothered to reply to you post. This was about a simple thank you. This is not about what self help books are on my bookshelf.

In the words of Sloppy Seconds . . .

thank you

Ps
When someone shares personal things and it's thrown back in their face by someone else, thats a low class move

I have made a lot of contributions and it would be hard to find a post where someone says "thank you"

Saying thank you seems to be a hard thing to do. I dont get it.

In the muscle forum, if you search 'M1000' and 'youre welcome', I have said that at least 40 times (meaning that someone asked for help, they thanked me, and I said youre welcome)

Its two words.

Mark, I disagree with the mentality you go into making threads. Are you making those contributions to get thanked? That kind of defeats the whole purpose of making threads because you want to share things. Getting thanked should be something extra, but it shouldn't necessarily be expected. And the amount of "thank you" you get should have no bearing on your self-worth.

Sorry, never encountered that thread before, but thank you for the time, energy, enthusiasm, skill, interest, dedication to your topics here. I'm sure countless guys on the net whether JUB members or not google something and your material comes up and makes someone's experience that much better.

No, I have already said that in this thread. I post for myself but a nice extra benefit would be someone appreciating the effort . . .
as RaKroma posted below.
Thank you RaKroma

If I was looking for self worth by making these contributions, I would not be doing a very good job

You have to have self esteem to post on a message board. You open yourself up do scrutiny and opposing opinions. I dont think people with low self esteem would post because they dont want to hear negatives things about themselves

RaKroma,
Thank you for the kind words. I appreciate it

On that note, Im not wasting my time of any more comments of people thinking I am looking for something else.

Every night , I thanked my mom for making dinner. Did she make dinner just so she could hear that? Of course not

This failed attempt of this thread was to have everyone appreciate each other a bit more. Tell them.

Youll thank a mechanic for a job well done - maybe not a good example - but you say thank you.

Dear moderator,
please lock this thread
Thank you

Gee, maybe I should start a thread whining about all the pix of male celebs I post in the "Male Celebs" Forum for which I don't get thanked. If you check some of them, I have posted more pix than most people. Especially the ones from 2013.

I think "Dejavudoo" is my new best friend.
