A Special Night Out For Dinner!

Some relatively nice restaurant where you can sit and talk (read: more upscale than mcdonalds ;), good food, good conversation, that's really all my requirements.

I'd like a good steak place with a big ol honking t bone, baked potato, some warm bread.... and big F'king bloody mary

Well, there's ideal and then there's something nice, as seven_sins and nathanr pointed out.

Something Nice:
It needs to be quiet, but hopefully not morbidly so. Tables not jammed together or anything. Warm, inviting lighting. Good service--there when you need them, absent when you don't. Decent food. Absolutely not a chain restaurant of any kind. No bubblegum under the tabletop. ;) Flatware that doesn't bend when you pierce your fork into your dinner.

Ideal:
Nothing suburban. Lustrous-feeling environment. Perhaps some nice music. Cotton tablecloth and napkins. No smoking of any kind. Organic, creative entrees (but they needn't be overwrought or dressy). Basically a restaurant with a brain and a soul. What type of food--vegetarian, Asian, Continental, African, etc.--doesn't matter so much as the feel and quality of the place.

That's my 2¢.

I like a restaurant where the staff is genuinely happy to be working there. Where the maitre d' doesn't look you up and down and then seat you in Siberia if he doesn't think your shoes are expensive enough. Where the waitstaff is knowledgeable but not supercilious. And the chef cares more about your meal than about whether he's going to get a gig on the Food Channel.

Oh who am I kidding... yeah, let's all make a run to McDonald's!

I really couldn't hammer down specifics. I think any night is ideal if I'm with someone about whom I care. They're the 'idea' part of the night. Everything else is an added bonus.

And that's why I'm single... =]

Oh, I completely agree. As long as I'm with someone I care about, I really don't care what I'm doing.

The best place that my boyfriend and I love for a great meal, ambiance, view, and a terrific table is his terrace when I cook.

Other than that, we have a few small restaurants in Princeton and New Hope that we really enjoy. The food quality is really the most important factor, because we don't go into "romantic" dining when we are out--just good food!

Romantic dinners: his Sangria (compromises me !oops! ), my cooking, lots of candles and a combination of spanish and english music, makes for a perfect dinner.

i tend to cater my dates to the individual I am going out with and general themes that we are going through...

like

if we watch a show on tv together about chinese culture during the week while hanging out at home, I'd shoot for a chinese restaurant and a chinese art exhibit

I like to let people know I'm paying attention to them

That's sweet.

I love candles. I have a lot of them stored all around the place..but not much chance to use them.
