Do you like toast? And if you do, what do you enjoy it with?

greaves loves toast with lightly grilled Camembert on top with a splash of Tabasco. Yummy.:D:D:D

I like plain, buttered toast

it is a god send when you're feeling sick from too much alco-ma-hol

yup with either Vegemite or cheese spread or a little bit of peanut butter but i go through cycles of which i want one one week then another the next

with butter almost always...sometimes i will take it with grape or strawberry jam.

I have to say it depends soley on the bread.

The orange packs of thick cut Warburton's bread doesn't make good toast IMO. However, their Danish bread makes fairly good toast.

I like them buttered, and my unhealthy recent liking for butter makes them almost irresistable with thinly sliced ham.

Butter or Skippy chunky peanut butter with Smuckers Strawberry Preserves or Smuckers mixed fruit jelly. (I am in the States all you UK guys - I don't smear Jello on my toast) Sunmaid raisin toast is great with butter also.

I suppose the holes in the pop tarts allow steam to escape so the ooey gooey goodness doesn't come bursting out of the pastry shell making an sticky mess on the inside of the microwave?

Did the pop tarts get stuck in the toaster preventing the "pop" mechanism from, well, 'popping causing the elements to remain on so that the pop tarts burst into flame which then began to jet out of the toast slots licking the bottom of the cuboards above the toaster raising the temperature of the wood to a combustive state?

That happened to me once...

From east to west, from coast to coast...
People are saying what they like most...
I don't want to brag, I don't want to boast...
I just tell them "I like toast!"

YEAH, TOAST!

Get up in the morning about 6 AM...
Spread a little butter, spread a little jam...
Take a piece of bread, put it in the slot...
Push down the lever, and the wires get hot,
You get TOAST!

YEAH, TOAST!

In Chicago and in Detroit...

whole wheat toast with butter and cinnamon sugar. Yum!

The aerodynamics of toast:

"I never had a piece of toast particularly long or wide/
But fell upon a sanded floor, and always on the buttered side"

For many years a favourite Sunday breakfast was wholemeal toast with butter, peanut butter, mashed banana and honey drizzled on top.

I prefer to make Melba toast, and I make it with whole grain or whole wheat sourdough bread (preferably from La Brea Bakery). I put nothing on it, but have it with soup. I make soups at least twice a week. I also like to make my own crackers and have them with deviled ham or turkey.

I used to make toast with my own garlic butter, but I've cut back drastically on butter recently because my brother and I both tend to have high cholesterol.

On Making Toast

There's an art to knowing when.
Never try to guess.
Just toast until it smokes
And then twenty seconds less.

I love dark toast with butter. Maybe some orange marmalade if the mood strikes.

What a coincidence. I was actually going to make a thread about toast this morning and got side-tracked.
