Aaliyah's Life Story, Actress Cast!

Not to sound insensitive, but what was so noteworthy about her life (besides her music) that warrants a bio-pic? She had a great voice and she died tragically in a plane crash. What else was there?

Too late because you are sounding insensitive. She made an impact on those young ladies and gentlemen's live who think or are thinking that they can't get to where they need to be in life unless they going down a dangerous route. I'm not saying she did because Luckily she had a GOD giving talent and her parents as well as teachers fostered that gift. She also gave to different charities. And she was an ANGEL and all around good person. Hell, bet you won't say that about Ghandi, Princess Diana, Mother Teresa, or Jacquliene Onassis. Now she may not have influenced lives on the scale that they did but she did influence many nonetheless.
Think before you speak next time.
HAPPY NEW YEAR.

Aaliyah was a lot more than people thought, she had style and grace like no other,
she was nominated for an oscar, not many people knew. she had her ups and downs, she had her scandalous marriage to R.Kelly, her relationship with Missy, Tim, Damon Dash and others close to her, then just the type of person she was.
It is more so a tribute than a biopic tho

but Keshia is a great choice, i said since she was a new artist that she looks so much like her

Wow, really ? I think what happened to her was horrible for her family, friends and fans.

However, was she really considered such an important artist ? Or was she lucky to have stood out a little from the pack of Hip Hop divas that were everywhere at the time ?

sandcastledisco, Aaliyah was never nominated for an Oscar. If you're referring to "Journey to the Past" from ANASTASIA, well, yeah, that was nominated for Best Song and she did perform it on the soundtrack and at the Oscars, BUT it was Lynn Ahrens (lyrics) and Stephen Flaherty (music) who were nominated.

:rolleyes:Oh please. If I really wanted to sound insensitive, I would have said that the only reason they're making a movie about her is because died. So save you're holier than thou bullshit for someone who cares what you think. ..|

I don't understand the cynicism of some people. Aaliyah sold 32 million records. Acted in two movies, one was produced by the very accomplished Joel Silver. She was about to appear in the last Matrix movie when she passed. She accomplished a lot for a girl in her early twenties and was on the cusp of super stardom. Many people didn't hear of Selena but that didn't stop everyone from seeing her bio-pic witch launched Jennifer Lopez into the stratosphere. Aaliyah's life story may not be interesting to everyone but to the people that loved her music and felt the loss when she passed, it is long overdue.

It'll definitely be interesting to see how its all handled. Hopefully with style & class; as her family (who I'm assuming will have some say in the film's direction) will make sure of that. They don't seem like the type to exploit her for money.

Wondering how they'll choose to address the R.Kelly were they/weren't they married stuff. Aaliyah always seemed to carry herself with class & dignity and seemed so down to earth; whereas I didn't really get that w/ other R&B girls around back then (Brandy, Monica, still like them though) and even the Rihanna's, Ciara, Keyshia Coles as of late just don't seem to have that same quality.

But yeah she was just so beautiful and talented & IMO def. worthy of a bio-film...last I heard Megan Good was going to play her

Glad they've moved on from that "casting rumor"

And Gladys Knight (love her) was her aunt so its no wonder she was so talented and so chill.

true, but still Beyonce JUST sang at the oscars, Aaliyah was doing that in her teens

she was, Look at Essential R&B albums in any credible sources, Aaliyah's eponymous album will be listed, even her One in a Million is an album that was ahead of its time IMO

damn Jasun....what's wrong baby? i mean, nobody would ever accuse you of being a nice guy, but you're being especially venomous this morning. it'll be alright;)

She was a good singer and I think someone else before said she is one of the few artists who isn't overshadowed by Timbaland's productions but I definitely think people overrate her, and that goes with any actor or singer who dies.

She did have some good music though and is much better than the cookie cutter RnB female artists today.

"The Queen of The Damned" movie was a huge disappointment to fans of the book. There were so many things wrong with the script, directing, casting, etc. It is a bit unfair to judge Aaliyah and blame her for that tired movie. I don't think people realize that this is what you are basing your opinion on Jasun. She was a very talented singer/ Teen idol to millions of young people. She had great success in the music business and this is what she is remembered for.

To be honest, I don't remember the music other than to think it was bland.

I just thought she was a dreadful actress and the way that everyone went on and on and on about her was proof to me that she was just another over-rated, under-talented hack/whore who blew the right people.

I might be wrong about the hack thing and maybe she really was a great singer/songwriter, but she was still a whore who blew the right people. No denying that.

you do realize there's a special place in hell for people like you, right? save me a seat sexy:twisted:

I think you're being a little over critical. She may not have been the best actress but you can't really judge her as a singer if you don't listen to that genre of music so I think Marley had a point there. She wasn't as bland or as bad as you are making her out to be.

you know the same can be said about the chiche garbage you listen to, I dont even gotta hype Aaliyah cause plenty of print and media sources can do it for me,
But now have some decency, you callin her a whore when in YOUR sig is a bunch of cock hungry dudes.... come on now, and on top of it, it doesnt seem to be your taste. Now give me 5 artists that are from the 90s that are better than her.

Ps. QOTD, the movie wasn't the greatest but she was the only memorable role in that crap

Ok guys,
Let's move on, shall we.......One thing I really liked about her was that she loved her gay fans and I remember a behind the scenes show on MTV where they followed her on her promo tour. She had such a funny/close relationship with her make up artist/hair stylist. I'll never forget when they sang a duet of Ashford and Simpson's "Solid as a rock". They were having the time of their lives. Sadly he perished with her on that day.
