aching feet.........

yes...but the thing is i always was/am. so nothing really changed. the only thing maybe now that i think of it is from skateboarding when i was younger. i was really into it, did it for years. i have major joint pain from it, so maybe its working down to my feet....i dont know if that is even possiable. but like i said job wise i have always been on my feet, and never bothered me.

A lot of foot pain has to do with balance and posture. Your feet literally carry the weight of your whole body, so unbalanced alignments and usage (wear and tear) can lead to foot problems.

- Do you walk on the outside edges of your feet?

- Do you walk on the inside edges of your feet?

- Do you stand with your weight on one leg more than the other?

- Do you stand up straight or slouch? Chest out, shoulders back?

- Do you have wider or flatter feet than average?

- Do your shoes fit you properly. Poorly fitting shoes could definitely cause your problem. New doesn't necessarily mean better if you have an odd shaped foot.

Have a podiatrist check you out. They may be able to determine if your problem is one of structure or alignment. It would be a shame to keep suffering if you don't have to.

It would be better to see a professional, someone like a podiatrist. They'll help you with your feet and legs, and possibly with the help of physiotherapists too, your posture may improve to help with the pain.

have you tried wearing different socks , maybe a thick kind . Mine when i started work last year ached for ages after a days shift but now i have no pain coz im used to it , like the other poster said a trip to the podiatrist or even your chemist could help you out and see whats available

See a podiatrist!

But beware of letting him/her prescribe expensive "orthotics," flexible support devices that fit inside your shoes. Orthotics can be very helpful, but you can buy non-prescription ones in drugstores that are equally good.

I had foot pain a while ago and started using orthotics with the brand name Triad, here in the US. They are very comfortable and as soon as I started using them the pain disappeared. There are probably other good brands, too.

You might have plantar fasciitis. Google this term if you want to know more -- it basically means that the ligament that supports the arch in your foot is inflamed.

You also might want to try Spenco insoles and/or orthotics. They're one of the better over-the-counter supports. If you have to wear dress shoes at work, a really comfortable (albeit expensive) brand is Rockport.

If that doesn't help, definitely see a podiatrist or an orthopaedic surgeon. You might need to get custom orthotics; they cost more but they can provide A LOT more relief.

(I have PF so I can understand what you're going through...when your feet hurt, you literally hurt all over.)
