So, this is something I don't really feel comfortable talking about with my female doctor and since it's not a real medical emergency I figure I can chance getting advice here lol. Anyways, the problem as the title says is acne on the cheeks of my ass up to the bottom of my lower back. I know it's not an uncommon problem from experience and just watching porn but lately it's been pretty constant for me. Ive always had it here and there but at this point Im single again for the first time in a long time and I would like to look my best before I put myself out there again.

Since Im sure folks will ask: I workout daily, shower daily and make sure to scrub my bum with soap very well. I change my bed sheets every 7 - 10 days. My diet isn't amazing, but I don't eat much in the way of fried foods or candy, just too many carbs. I'm wondering if that proactive shower stuff would be a worthwhile investment? I just don't want to buy expensive soap and spend a month testing it if it's probably not going to work anyways. Anyone have any experience with it for this issue?

Im guessing part of the problem is that I run a business from a website so I spend a good part of my day sitting in chairs but I think I was doing pretty much the same when I was a student so it can't be the sole explanation.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated :).

First, don't wash with bar soap. Use a gentle cleanser. Bar soap ingredients can clog pores. Use something gentle like a Cerave cleanser.

Don't fall for any washes with anti-acne ingredients. For the ingredients to work, they need to be left on skin. You'll want two products, one to exfoliate skin and pore lining (a salicylic acid cream) and you'll want a benzoyl peroxide product, which isn't formulated with irritants.

For the exfoliant, I would recommend Paula's Choice Weightless Body Treatment with 2% BHA. It's really the only product like it on the market. https://www.paulaschoice.com/produc...th-2-percent-beta-hydroxy-acid/body-hair-care

For a benzoyl peroxide product, she sells a couple that would work great (in her Clear line), or there are quite a few good ones at the drug store, such as Oxy Clinical's 5% BP product.

The main thing is that it is hard to find salicylic acid products which don't contain irritants like menthol, rosemary, etc, and which don't have alcohol, and which are formulated at the necessary low PH to be able to penetrate the pore. Paula's Choice makes some of the only products like that on the market. Most other salicylic acids will just irritate your skin. And the thing with benzoyl peroxide is the same. You want one that doesn't have that "cool, tingly" feel either because of alcohol, menthol, etc. The Oxy one I mentioned is good, or Paula's Choice products are fine.

I believe if you use these, your problem will almost if not entirely go away. BTW, I don't work for Paula's Choice--I just love her products. They work great for me, and she backs up all her claims with substantial research.

Thanks for the info! I will check out the line of products you mentioned. I have a benzoyl peroxide product called clindoxyl gel but it bleaches clothes which makes it hard to use but if it's gonna work I'll give it a go.

I would add that you may want to be mindful of detergents/bleach that you may use in washing underwear. I once had a similar problem and the doctor told me it was a reaction to the bleach and it affects your bottom so much because that's what you sit on. I started being more careful about how much bleach I used and I also double rinsed the clothes in the washer. Some of the newer washers have an extra setting for double rinsing for this very reason. Once I did that, the pimples disappeared with no other special treatment. That may not be your problem but I just wanted to mention it for what it's worth.

Yeah, I looked that up, and it's a combo antibiotic and benzoyl peroxide product. It should work well. Acne is acne. I would just use it and then wear either white underwear or clothes you don't care about.

I just realized you live in Canada. I know Paula's Choice has higher shipping costs to Canada. I would try to recommend something over the counter at a drugstore that is equivalent to her BHA products, but I don't know of any. I did a quick search just now on her review site and the only other BHA product she gives a good rating which is somewhat reasonable in price is a BHA night cream by Proactiv but it's $28 for just 1 oz. There just aren't that many well formulated BHA products.

But I would try the benzoyl peroxide for now.

My opinion is that none of the expensive products will do much for you. As we get older most of us have a tendency to grow more hair on our butts. With your sitting so much with your job and constantly rubbing where the little hairs are coming through, it tends to cause pimple like bumbs. I don't know if there is a total cure for this, but wearing the silky feeling boxers might help. They will ride higher on your waist and reduce the friction between your butt and your chair. Might help some.

I've heard of this but rather than pimples, they might be boils. Boils are deeper infections of the skin, and skin on the buttocks is a lot thicker than other parts of the body. It depends on what kind of acne it is, and I think you may want to do a little web searching on boils and acne on the buttocks. You may need to see your doctor for anti-biotics.

Ass, chest and back acne are a challenge. You may have to try different products - salicylic acid, zinc oxide cream, benzoyl peroxide and retinoids all work but they don't work for every person. Experiment with them by themselves or in combination until you find something that works. If none work, then see a dermatologist- you may need to try antibiotics or antifungals to get it all under control.

If you do try benzoyl peroxide, just be sure to wear white underwear (or underwear that you don't care whether it bleaches).

Thanks for the help folks. The Benzoyl Peroxide worked o the first treatment. Noticed a huge difference in the morning and it has been progressively better since. It isn't the most comfortable thing to do but it's worth it.

Thanks!
