I just joined Active Duty and while the content is still good, I'm disappointed in how sloppy the website is set up. It looks like the webmaster just stopped working on it one day and never resumed. Case in point: they have a listing of all the models (or Troops as they call it), but they don't correspond with the videos posted. For example, you can click on one model and it shows he has only two videos listed. But if you manually go through all of the videos, you can find about six others that are not listed under his name and doesn't show up if you do a search. What gives? Come on, Dink...I love you, but get it together!

In my humble opinion AD has gone downhill. Most of the models aren't as hot anymore as they used to be.
And the same is with the filming of them. As to me AD has lost it's sparkle.

Some of the models on AD are still ok. Every once in a while a really hot dude comes through there, and they make one or a couple vids with him and then he just disappears. Very different from sites like SC or RB that will milk a model (no pun intended) by bringing him back to do more scenes once they realize that that's what the site members want to see. Seems to me like its the actual content production and organization of the site that lost its sparkle. This site used to be raw and edgy amateur porn---the hottest type of porn (IM0). I get the feeling that they don't care what the fans want as long as they just put something out there.

I think amateur is the hottest type of porn too, but I don't necessarily think sites should go back to the early 2000's type of production and content. (not that you're saying that). I think Broadband and HD is the best thing to happen to porn since the Internet. Unfortunately, it makes a lot of the older stuff look, well, old.

I'm still mainly attracted to the models, not the style of filming so much. It can be a crappy video in regards to production values (not that Active Duty does that) and I'll still pay to watch if I'm attracted to at least one of the models.

Active Duty has a very extensive library. It still has some of the sexiest, if not prettiest, models out there. Of course, I've never been into "pretty" so much as masculine. A masculine model will turn me on much more than a prettier effeminate one.

Which is why I love Active Duty so much. Really like the guys I see daily that turn me on. Not some prissy girlish boys that would lurk around the nightclubs. Not that there is anything wrong with that. Just, obviously, not my thing.

Active Duty, Chaz, Axl and Dink Flamingo

I feel like I have been somewhere deep in Siberia. I mean that seriously. Last night I was hanging out with some friends and we were talking about porn studios and porn stars and I mentioned missing Chaz from Active Duty. And someone said I need to get my head checked. I asked why and he said just go online and type "Active Duty" and "Axl". So last night I started reading all of this stuff about racism over at Active Duty. I was floored. I was completely floored. I don't even know what to think. I was reading comments and postings and online articles for hours. And I woke up this morning really sad.

Apparently Axl, a porn star over at Active Duty had a couple of racist tattoos inked on his body. I read everything everyone had to say and while I don't agree with the tattoos at all, I can certainly try to understand that Axl might have made a decision he otherwise wouldn't have made with more thought. He also could have made the decision under peer pressure or under the coercion of people without a moral compass. I don't know. Mainly I just feel bad for him. Some argued that in the end all that matters is that he is hot. It's about his body and not about his views. Maybe so. I do know that there is no way I could ever get an erection even with him standing naked in front of me anymore. Contrary to popular belief, our brains are our biggest sexual organs. Several porn stars have stated that they are unwilling to work with minority (or more specifically BLACK) actors. I recall at least four off the top of my head. So I'm not really angry or mad or furious with Axl. I feel bad for him - hope that he evolves with maturity - and wish him well. Honestly. 3 of the porn stars that I know off the top of my head who stated that they would not work with black guys faded away rather quickly soon thereafter.

But now that I have had time to process all that I have read, I awoke this morning somewhat angry and mad -- but mainly at myself. I was a long term member of Active Duty. From the moment Chaz showed up, I was hooked. A scene starring Chaz still remains as one of the best I had ever seen. I gladly -- happily paid my subscription because I wanted the company to do well. Now I'm sick to my stomach. I can't get that money back and I don't want it back. I guess I want some of my dignity back. Here I was supporting a site (Active Duty) that seems to conscientiously go out of its way to NOT hire minorities. And by minorities I am specifically talking about black guys. I read that some Latino males were hired. I'm also feeling a bit stupid. During the entire time of my membership phase with Active Duty, it didn't dawn on me that this was Active Duty's modus operandi. I just figured they were in the same position as many other porn studios -- wanting to hire black males but having a hard time finding them. Sean Cody hires black guys. Chaos Men hires black guys. Randy Blue hires black guys. MEN hires black guys. Corbin Fisher hires black guys. Lucas Entertainment LOVES black guys. And the list goes on and on. Yet Active Duty doesn't. So after reading all of this stuff last night and late into the morning a light bulb went off -- ahhhh Active Duty DOESN'T want to hire black guys.

So my sadness and frustrations aren't with Axl. My focus is on the owners and management of the Active Duty website as a whole. I believe Dink stated that he was robbed by a black guy which possibly became an impetus for not trusting black gay porn star hires? I'm not sure about his reasoning. I just know whatever his reasoning, it's definitely on the wrong side of history. Another part of Dink's argument is that his subscribers email him about what they want and what they like. He further states that he is catering to the desires of his subscribers. The National Enquirer has the same guideline. They know what they publish is wrong, garbage, lies and innuendo but state this is what their subscribers want.

White bodies are beautiful. No doubt about that. BUT -- Latino guys are beautiful. Asian guys are beautiful. And so are black guys. And there's nothing more impressive than an interracial pairing where your eyes feast on spectacular colour contrasts.

I really thought we were pass all of this. The USA has a black president, a black first lady, a black beauty queen and a smorgasbord of black Americans contributing in all walks of life. . . .including yes dare I say it porn. Here in Canada we recently had a Governor General, the highest position here right under the Queen, who was a black Canadian. Soooo much has advanced yet some remain rigid in their views of beauty and what's acceptable. And it seems Dink Flamingo and Active Duty have chosen to remain rigid.

So heartbreaking.

From what I gathered on the comments from Men Of Porn,the one he covered up had some of the same numbers and writings the tattoos Axel had,which is why I think he got it redone.
I will sayif he did have those thoughts at one point,the shows he did with Flirt For Free and the relationship he's rumored to be in now suggest he's gotten past that.

As for Active Duty itself,it started to hurt when they got busted in NC but after his response to Axel's tattoos in which he more or less showed his racism,his site has gone down the tubes.
I don't think he even runs it anymore and to that I say good.

I see that Active Duty is celebrating 15 years with a 15% off sale so you can get a 15-day trial for $15. It says on the site that you get unlimited downloads but I'm not sure whether this applies to the trial or not. If you try to look at the video download terms and conditions, they're behind the membership paywall! Stupid.

Can any member look and see what the t&cs are for videos? Are there limits as to what you can download or what you can do with the files? Thanks.
