Adam Lambert [merged]

Re: Adam Lambert's Album Cover

It's interesting how everyone seems to have such passionate opinions when it comes to Adam Lambert. Either you worship the ground he walks on and praise his holy name or you can't stand the sight of him and wish he would take his attention-starved ass back to where it came from and disappear forever. There doesn't seem to be any real middle ground.

What I find frustrating is when (some of) his fans act like you've committed a mortal sin if you dare to insult their precious Adam. On this very board, I've been called a homophobe and an asshole simply because I didn't cheerlead him when he was on Idol. I must've forgotten the part of the homosexual contract where I agreed to worship and support every single gay man who thrusts himself into the public eye. How silly of me. Guess that means I'm an evil tobacco-chewing bigot and a traitor to the gay community. *shrugs*

Re: Adam Lambert's Album Cover

I listened to his tunes on his Myspace page. Typical pre-packaged coroprate product. There is nothing rock or glam. Just a bunch of cheesy Brit-Brit knock-off s(I think Briney is a piece of untalented shit), and bad power ballads.

I'm sure the general public will lap it up.

Re: Adam Lambert's Album Cover

well I decided to listen to the album.

No songs about boys but I heard a lot of "her" and "all the girls at the club" a couple times.

Genric crap I'd expect from Mylie Cyrus. Lots of squealing notes... nothing I really can remember other than it went between being dull and annoying.

Re: Adam Lambert's Album Cover

I'm surprised you've felt persecuted here, as there are clearly many folks who don't care for him.

Ahh. You must not post in the Entertainment forum very often, LoL. Don't worry. I'm sure a few of the Glambert cheerleaders will pop into this thread before too long to read us the riot act for not sucking the cock of their beloved Adam. It's bound to happen sooner or later.

Re: Adam Lambert's Album Cover

Britney a true artist? Please. That chick has a shitty baby voice and cannot sing live. Horrible.

I never said she was a good singer. But she is definitely more rock and roll than this Adam kid will ever be. ;)

Oh fucking lord.

Re: Adam Lambert's Album Cover

It's because he has no problem selling himself out and "neutralizing" his sexuality just to increase his own popularity. That is what turns me off.

YES! Couldn't have put it better. What surprises me is that I dont really understand why any of this is being done. His fans from American Idol will love him no matter what he does. They will worship the ground he walks on and never think twice about it. He doesnt need to continue to cater to them after Idol. He is releasing a dance track as his first single and his marketing strategy is to turn his back on the gay community? Really? Bad move.

Re: Adam Lambert's Album Cover

well, and Details has it right... that article was absurd. Revisionist history.

There are no "dudes" who like Adam Lambert. It's all fag hags and gay men. I can assure you that no straight guys who listen to Lil Wayne or Kanye West who'll go out and buy "For your entertainment."

saying you "don't want to look too gay" to Out magazine was a VERY bad move. Aaron was nice enough to point that out. Now with his TwitterFit, Adam can pretty much bank on not being mentioned in their pages again.

ding ding ding! this is the crux of the entire thing. OUT can make or break this kid's career. i think we know how it's going to pan out.

Unfortunately I don't think that's true. Lambert has a huge straight female fan base. I don't think OUT is influential enough amongst gays who like him to make a difference.

Re: Adam Lambert's Album Cover

Anyone who believes Musto about anything is a jerk too. Musto is as big a fame whore as anyone on this planet and he is as pompous as his jerky writings. There are times this idiot has tried to defame even porn stars with lies from some dope in Boston who is known for his stalking and power plays. So much so that some places will not even allow his name spoken. Musto published lies about a porn studio and their biggest star, and would not, in the face of the truth, make a retraction.

Those who are going to believe everything bad about Lambert are going to believe it no matter who says it. Well shame.

Re: Adam Lambert's Album Cover

One other thing - why is Lambert held to a higher standard than everyone else in the industry?

Re: Adam Lambert's Album Cover

Im so pissed after listening to his album on Myspace.

Nothing I hate more than when amazing producers and songwriters waste songs on an artist like this.

Why do I hate him so?

Sigh.

Speaking of production, the sounds on that album were really generic. And I LOVE generic. It was just bad, sounded like trashy gay-trance-techno music.

Eh, plenty of people will buy it.

I agree with you on this. Not only does he have a huge straight female fan base, they are all foaming-at-the-mouth fanatics! Has anyone else noticed the violent female reaction over the web to OUT magazine letter???

Actually, I think everything in this article has been pretty substanstiated. All it does is reprint the OUT magazine letter with a tiny bit of rational speculation.

Out of curiosity, how is he being held to a higher standard than anyone else in the industry? Please explain.

Re: Adam Lambert's Album Cover

The fact that Adam Lambert is cranking out formulaic crap can't be the problem. That's what American Idol contestants DO. Ruben Studdard does his teddy-bear soft R&B schtick, Daughtry wants to be Nickelback, etc etc.

The real question is - who is this for? Who do they expect to buy this album? And does the packaging fit in with that? And I don't see it meshing. It's like putting Paris Hilton smashing a guitar on the cover of her album - it just doesn't appear to FIT. If I was handed that album cover and asked to describe what the music would be, I'd be guessing overly orchestrated showtunes, highlighted with a duet on "I Am What I Am" featuring a guest shot by Rufus Wainwright. (Although Rufus would no doubt steal the entire album just by showing up.) Instead, we get...well, whatever it is. It's not even pop - it's more like the vague idea of pop without the hooks, with more production than most DDDs (disembodied disco divas) usually merit. I mean, this guy can SING, right? So why bury him?

Will it fly? I expect it to debut Top 10, almost certainly, but I really don't see this thing having any legs. And unless he does a major rethink on his choice of material and direction, I can say the same thing about Adam.
