Adam Lambert [merged]

Re: C'mon, why is no one giving Adam Lambert credit for his performance?

*FEIGNS SHOCK*

You mean Adam Lambert over-sang and turned his performance into a big ass joke? I'm... I'm stunned! Just stunned!

This is why I've never liked him. Even when everyone was championing him as the second coming and saying he was a total sweetheart and all that, I could see right through him. I knew he was just waiting to break out of the Idol mold and show what a desperate attention-seeking fame sucker he really is. And the attitude. God, the attitude. He acts like the world should bow at his feet. I'm sorry, but he hasn't even come close to earning his diva status yet, so it might be a good idea for him to scale it back a tad before he sends his own career down the tubes. A humble disposition goes a long way.

Re: C'mon, why is no one giving Adam Lambert credit for his performance?

I fucking hate him, so glad he's slowly going to fade away. Kris Allen is still the winner, let the media have fun with Adam, he's a embarassment. Kris Allen all the way :)

Re: C'mon, why is no one giving Adam Lambert credit for his performance?

So in other words, we were supposed to admire his performance because he is gay...and because some religious groups in Bubblefuck, Nebraska may have not liked that he was on stage at all. Downplay how bad it technically was, never mind all that; just applaud it because it actually happened and because he's "one of us." Am I getting it right?

Basically.

Re: C'mon, why is no one giving Adam Lambert credit for his performance?

I love him, i think he is one of the best male vocalist i have known so far but the performance was disappointing. Does he wanna be a Mrs Gaga. He's a disgrace to gay

Re: C'mon, why is no one giving Adam Lambert credit for his performance?

I just watched the performance on youtube, and i was absolutely disgusted. That was the dumbest thing I have seen in my life.

Now on a brighter note... KELLY CLARKSON BLEW IT OUT OF THE WATER!!!

Hey Adam Lambert, take notes cause Kelly is the shit!

Re: C'mon, why is no one giving Adam Lambert credit for his performance?

Kelly, Carrie WERE AWESOME! Hell even Kris Allen was working that suit. Adam take notes, the idol WINNERS! Know how to get the job done. Fucking moron.

QFT! this I agree. What a HOT MESS that Adam is.

Re: C'mon, why is no one giving Adam Lambert credit for his performance?

I was wishing he wouldn't go down the route he did. The performance was too much and not in a good way. It was too raunchy for the show, and he didn't sing very well. Definitely not a closing worthy performance. It's a shame because he's very talented. He doesn't need to go down that sexuality route. I mean he could become big if he sticks to what he's done in AI. Just showing off his musical talents and not being too out there. I mean thats why people loved him in the first place, it was because he could sing.

He tried too hard it seemed and it was just a travesty and I was actually embarassed watching it. If he keeps this up I could see his career in jeopardy.

Re: C'mon, why is no one giving Adam Lambert credit for his performance?

He can sing and is very talented, but tried too hard. He doesn't need to being shocking. And needs to stop letting his sexuality define him!

Re: C'mon, why is no one giving Adam Lambert credit for his performance?

I noticed that the performance was edited (on the West Coast here) so I had to go to Youtube. I didn't think it was THAT bad. It did seem like he was trying outdo Madonna's famous "Like A Virgin" performance from some years back, and ended up turning off a lot of people.

Re: C'mon, why is no one giving Adam Lambert credit for his performance?

I give Adam Lambert credit for having incredibly bad taste. I don't think I've seen anything so shocking since the "no wire hangers" scene in Mommie Dearest.

Re: C'mon, why is no one giving Adam Lambert credit for his performance?

I wasnt in love with the vocals. But I do like that song. i couldnt believe what he was doing on stage with all those girls and guys. I cant recall anyone EVER doing something like that. He practically ravaged the keyboard player. i wonder what the reaction will be.

I noticed that there was very few audience reaction shots like they did with other performances. Jay-z was prolly trying to avert his eyes. Also, when he shoved the guys face into his crotch right before he did it to the girl they cut away from the guy but showed the girl when he did it to her. Very interesting.

I started a seperate thread because the other one seemed to be only about Whitney.

I liked it a lot. Very daring and multi-sexual.

You tooks the words right out of my mouth. It's like stick to what got you popular in the first place.

Re: C'mon, why is no one giving Adam Lambert credit for his performance?

I liked it, but didn't love it.

Re: C'mon, why is no one giving Adam Lambert credit for his performance?

Actually what's interesting is that I love his album, very 80's rock.

Re: C'mon, why is no one giving Adam Lambert credit for his performance?

I've never payed attention to this clown but he looks to be the latest "artist" doing manufactured music. Doesn't write or compose any of it, plays no instruments, puts on an abrasive show to create hype and sell albums. And the industry wonders why music pirating is so popular these days.

Re: C'mon, why is no one giving Adam Lambert credit for his performance?

I've now given the entire CD a listen.

It's not great, but it's not horrible, either. Several songs work fairly well. Others have decent qualities that are hampered by bad arrangement, bad lyrics or bad production. (Adam's singing is never a problem - just the things he's singing.) And a few are downright terrible. The "Surefire Winners" song wouldn't fly in High School Musical, for instance.

The main problem is that the album has a horrible "throw it against the wall and see what sticks" quality. It's not that there's variety on the album - I'm all for that. But I don't get the feeling he's doing pop, rock, techno-dance, ballads, etc because he's good at them, or because he likes doing them. It smacks of "if I switch things around, you'll like SOMETHING on here". And since too many of the songs fail on their own merits, it just ends up being like a puppy dog doing his repertoire of tricks, hoping one of them will make you think he's a nice dog. There's some good pop on here, but it's so calculated that all I hear is the calculation.

"Music Again" is so silly (Bon Jovi meets darkness doing technopop) that it almost succeeds. The Queen-esque showtune ballad is pretty well done. And the rest...enh. Or bleh.

Re: C'mon, why is no one giving Adam Lambert credit for his performance?

His performance was horrible. Too much going on, and horrible, annoying vocals. Did he think that screaming and wailing like Christina Aguilera was going to get him respect. Yeah queens, I took it there. Anyway, with that aside, I will admit that there were a few elements in the performance that I did not totally cringe at. 1. He's hot...and i loved his glam rock look meets the 1950's hair. I also like the idea of the song: "We need to be entertained..." Yes girl, we do, we do. However, the overtly sexual moments in his performance were way too easy and obvious. Come on Adam, let's use all our crayons and color a better picture.

Re: C'mon, why is no one giving Adam Lambert credit for his performance?

I am going to play devil's advocate and actually praise Adam. Not necessarily because his performance at the AMAs was outstanding, but because he at least has the potential to deliver something wonderful... as long as he isn't overcome by nerves and fear, which is what seemed to happen in this occasion.

Yes, it was a bit tasteless and exaggerated but, then again, it may just be that we are simply not used to seeing a male engage in this sort of behaviour on television. Females do these sort of things all the time, whereas men tend to be more restrained. Well, we could say that Adam has attempted to break this barrier, even if he has done so stumbling across the stage and seemingly struggling to remember what he had to do.

What truly matters is that he is an outstanding vocalist who can easily sing in the soprano register in full voice, leaping through the scales with impressive ease and agility. Yes, he was a bit screechy, but at least he showed he can sing soprano better than most so-called divas, including the utter heap of self-important waste that is Whitney Houston. Speaking about amateurish performances, an awful tonal quality and inability to reach high notes... This was understandable of Adam, because it is the first time he actually plays in the big leagues but, Miss Houston the arrogant diva? It should have been a breeze for her!

As for his attitude, well, he may not have earned it in terms of career longevity and sustained high record sales, but he does have a right to think highly of himself, especially in an industry in which he is surrounded by people who barely manage to scratch the lower end of mediocrity.

As for his album, I have found it quite enjoyable, if only so. I think that there are a couple of songs that are nothing short of outstanding (mainly, "Pick U Up" and "Whataya Want From Me?"), which would have been much better single choices rather than the unappealing "For Your Entertainment".

I can only hope that he enjoys the success that he deserves and is given enough space to develop both creatively and vocally, because I am sure that he can achieve great things. As for his image, he has a right to express himself as he wishes. The last time I checked, there aren't any laws that dictate how a gay man who works as a mainstream entertainer has to behave. Also, he is right in saying that his main objective is to entertain people, rather than make grand political statements or represent the entire gay community. After all, those who may want to demonize us, will find ways to do so anyway, whether he is wearing eyeshadow and mascara or not.

I'm sure everybody will have fun with this. His CD was just marked down to $3.99 if you download it from Amazon
