The wonderful thing was a he fully embraced the complete campness of the original Batman

Another part of childhood gone...

It could be said it was gone the moment the original series ended, but I tend to view it as it will never be gone. First it survived on tape/film, now digital. And William West Anderson aged as all of us do, so ceased to be the young whippersnap who was Adam West when Batman was all the rage and Archie comics were a thing.

The older I get, the more I like the quote, "it's NEVER too late to have an unhappy childhood," and in some ways the opposite is true.

The quality of the filming means that the original Batman TV series will live on forever.

I was 9 years old at the first broadcast and while I didn't "get" the humor at first my parents sure did!

The best part of Adam West and Julie Newmar was that these two liked to do their own stunts - director's permission of course.

Very sad news.

My generation knows him best as Mayor Adam West in Family Guy. He seemed like a really genuine and nice guy in interviews.

LA's skyline will be lit up with the Bat-Signal on Thursday to honour Batman star Adam West, who died last week.

ME-TV (check your local listings) is airing a 7-hour tribute on Saturday, June 17 with episodes of their regular Saturday programming. Each episode will have Adam West in them; most are pre-Batman. There will breaks, as they aren't changing the schedule.

Tribute to Adam West in Los Angeles:

The Bat-signal will be seen in Los Angeles on Thursday night in honor of "Batman" actor Adam West, who died June 9 at age 88.

Mayor Eric Garcetti and Los Angeles Police Chief Charlie Beck will light the signal, which will be projected onto City Hall in a ceremony beginning at 9 p.m. Guests will arrive starting at 8.
