Apparently, someone in the UK government touted the idea of filling the acres of perennially empty, palatial Russian-oligarch-bought properties in the swanky areas of London with Ukrainian refugees. So they should! I'm sure the average Ukrainian working person would furnish the homes with far more taste than a Russian oligarch.

Not as a gay couple - too much ingrained religious prejudice against LGBT people from Eastern European countries. I am sympathetic to them and prefer to help in other ways though.

I generally avoid people who have a strong religious background - they drain me.

If I had a huge country pile (which is kind of what I imagine rareboy to live in from his descriptions in his posts), I think I would enjoy hosting a big group of them. Trouble is, I might enjoy it too much and get too attached and not want to see them go when the time eventually comes... Indeed, my needy lonesomeness might take an Annie-Wilkes-esque turn and they might come to prefer the clutches of Putin to mine...

Not a huge pile but we do have extra bedrooms and only used when family stays over...and when my own family came to Canada from Europe after the war, there was a welcoming family to help get them settled and on their feet in the early days.

I can do that for others.

It's actually £350 per month. Undoubtedly that will be a factor for some people.
