A Saudi princess who fell pregnant during an affair with a British man has been granted asylum in Britain after she claimed she could face the death penalty if she went home.

A British court granted refugee status to the young woman, who is married to a member of the Saudi royal family, after she told the judge her adultery made her liable to death by stoning in Saudi Arabia, The Independent newspaper said.

Furthermore...

The newspaper reported that the princess - who was granted anonymity by the court - is one of a small number of citizens of Saudi Arabia who claim asylum in Britain but whose cases are not openly acknowledged by either government.

Recognition by the British Government would be viewed as criticism of human rights in Saudi Arabia, which would embarrass both sides, it said.

Saudi Arabia has about 30.000 Britons.
Its criminal system that is Sharia law has come under increasing scrutiny from human rights groups, for the wanton violence that is visited upon perceived crimnals.

Obama-that campion of human rights- recently bowed for Abdullah, King of this 'enlightened' state.

On the 15th of July 1977 (five days before I was born) Princess Misha'al bint Fahd al Saud was allegedly executed along with her son. The Asylumseeker in the thread title maintains she is bound to suffer the same fate unless Britain accepts her request.

Read about that here.

JuBbers, how does that make you feel?

Does anybody think the Taliban may actually be better people than House Saud?

The documentary Death of a Princess is available for viewing on youtube.

After this was first aired the Saudis sent the British ambassador away and threatened economic sanctions.
In the US, the Secretary of State and Mobil Oil put tremendous pressure on the government to censor the production, but PBS aired it regardless in 1980.

In that part of the world, you have to engage with every nation or you just tread water and nothing happens. That being said, Sauda Arabia can bite my gay, adulterous ass. Anyone there, who engages in the misfortune of being human, escape if you can! Live in the west instead, where being stoned has a thoroughly different meaning.

:help:(UU)

the west isnt that great...sorry

It certainly has its problems, but I'll take my chances here. There is certainly more water. And more chances to kiss guys without the King of Someotherabia running at me with a sword.
True, much more freedom over here. But hey, you still gotta worry about Jim Bob shooting you down for kissing guys just the same.

At least you have the opportunity to get killed by royalty, instead of some backwater hick.

You think death by stoning by royalty is preferable.
sharia law favors men, not women and certainly
not homosexuals. Over there it is the law of the
land. Here we still have assholes, but they are
not in charge and it is not the law. Big difference
shea

^Not really. Ideally the Shariah or even Islam in general has more gender equity. It's the asshole imams who run it today who are the problem.

Ideally, Islam is more accepting and tolerant than Christianity. Of course, after hundreds of years of fighting christians and people invading their countries, you kinda go crazy.

Well, as Christians, we're still crazy.

The first big blow for them was when France invaded Algeria.

I don't know if I'm misunderstanding your post, but are you somewhat justifying the extreme evil leaders of the Middle East's hate and brutality against their own people?

Yeah, Muslim countries have been invaded by Christians, but you know what? Muslim countries have been invaded by Muslims, and far more have been killed by the sword by their own people than they have been by foreigners invading their country.

The leadership in the Middle East is some of the most corrupt on Earth, and they treat their people the worst on Earth. Don't even come back with smart ass remarks like "oh, the West isn't that better..."

My ass. The West is the best place to live, end of story. There are millions of citizens in the Middle East living under Shariah law that would smack you over the head for saying such ignorant things.

I think your misunderstanding your post. When did I justify evil? I said Islam is idealy a peaceful religion, and does not condone violence.

Muslim countries used to be the advanced societies, as their religion didn't find science and learning a bad thing. They saved much of Europes ancient knowledge and history, as Europe itself tried to destroy it all because it was evidence of evil agaisn't God. Islam came up with all types of stuff for medicine etc.

Then the Christians got tired of fighting amongst themselves and wanted to rid the world of the evil muslims who didn't believe in God (even though, muslims believe in the exact same God in a different way)

Then after it seems like the Christians are done messing with you, they decided to take over your country and tell you how to live?

I wish Andreus was still alive. He was much more elequent about Muslim issues.

Funny, in Iran, the government helps transexuals who want sex changes. They have zero problem with it.

That whole covering a women from head to toe, got it from the christians. What do you think Nuns are?

Shariah Law isn't in the Qu'ran and is totally agaisnt the the Qu'ran. But sadly it is followed by their corrupt leaders and religious leaders. Luckily there are good Imam's out there. Too bad they aren't the one in power.

There's some misunderstanding, Apollo. Probably on my part. I'm from Ohio. The only King that'll kill me is King James if I try to slamdunk against him.

On another politics site I belong to, I have railed against our so called middle east moderate allies for their human rights infringements. They're despots. But we still have to deal with them. They've got the power...

Meanwhile, I am, of course, very aware of violence against gay folk in the US. I have never experienced any directly myself, however. Nor do I want to...

Muslim countries will idealy, move more towards the model Turkey has. It is a muslim country that is strongly secular, while still being a strongly religious muslim country. Women choose whether to wear the head scarf or not mostly.

Funnily, I think Iran would be closet to getting this model if they didn't have those loons as their leaders.

I doubt it will really change until World War 3 is come and gone though.

It seems like now the tables have turned however, doesn't it?

European countries are now the most civilized and Muslim countries are the most backward (give or take a few of course).

I think you are also forgetting that Islam has many different sects and groups, that all hate each other and have for centuries on end. Islam has rarely been a "unified" religion ever since the Byzantine-Arab Wars, which arguably was started by Prophet Muhammad.

That is not to say that Islam wasn't intended to be a peaceful religion. It was, and is still meant to be (we can hope). But you blaming everything on "Christians" and the "West" is a feeble attempt at subtly ignoring the atrocities being committed over in The Arab world at the present, and in the past.

LOL at your statement about transsexuals in Iran. Yes, what you said is true, but it's only 3% of the entire story. Are you aware of the social implications surrounding the surgeries? Are you aware of their treatment of gays and lesbians?

Do you know that people can also have surgeries in the West?

Oh no doubt Arabs have done some things in the past, and you can watch the news to see what their doing now. They invaded all along the mediteranean in the past and took over those countries. Arguably they made the men and women a lot hotter by mixing the peoples.

But I am not stupid enough to think that Europe (mostly the catholic church, later the countries) wasn't one of the big reasons for the change in attitudes.

Why would a society, that had no problem in learning, advancing, and enjoying art from pre-God periods suddenly turn into modern day savages? Why the digression? Societies who contributed much to art, and an awful lot to modern medicine is suddenly some backwater countries with beautiful buildings? Let's be real here.

As for the sects and groups. That is expected. All religions have little differences in opinion and sometimes it gets violent. (well a lot of the time it gets violent at first)
