To someone who's "barely legal" early forties seems ancient (I'm nearly 40 myself, so that's not a knock on your age.) He may just not be sure HOW to respond to an older man's flirtations, if he's indeed interested and that young. And he may be too inexperienced to pick up and move forward on your flirtiness.

Looks like you might just have to lay the cards down and just ask him out. For a drink. For lunch. Whatever you think is best. That could certainly get the ball rolling.

like 3years ago when I was still kinda in the closet and out only to my close friends, there was this guy I worked with, that was gay and was a good friend I guess, but I didn't tell him I was gay, I wasn't attracted to him or anything, he was cool to hang around with but he was older, not old enough to be my parent or anything but like I was like 21 maybe and he was 35 or 36, anyway he was hanging out with one of my old bffs that knew I was gay but I didn't really talk to her anymore so he's hanging at her house getting high and drinking and all of a sudden I get a text from him saying that he loves me. and I don't know what to think, I don't know if he's being serious or playing around so I ignore it, and he sends like 3 more texts saying hey, I love u, what do you think? and I was so shocked because I'm like that bitch just told him I was gay and now I have to deal with this. cuz I'm young, I get along with everyone, I'm cute, I was running 18 miles a week and working out so I have a hot ass, so of course he's gonna want to hit this haha, so then he texts hey I'm gonna come over, and I'm like OMG OMG, so I try and ignore him, next thing you know he's in front of my apt honking for me to come outside. so here I am dreading talking to him, because I didn't officially come out to him and he's drunk so I don't know what to do. so I go outside and try to act all casual, and I'm like what's up? and he is just looking me up and down like he's undressing me with his eyes and wants to rape me or something, and I am soo nervous because I don't want to hurt his feelings and don't know what to say. so he's like, nothing I'm just chilling, about to go home and have some fun and then looks at me again all weird and kinda does this thing with his eyes like he's waiting for an answer and I'm like ugh, yeah, I'm busy right now, so then he's looking at me like I'm lying, but he doesn't say he knows I'm gay, he's just like, oh, but he is so fucking high, and obviously drinking, which is a huge turn off for me, not being high..

..but alcohol in general I cannot stand,i know he was probably doing coke, so he's all in the mood to fuck and I'm just like no, you don't get to poke this when you're drunk, and I don't even like him like that, so he's all disappointed and I'm like all awkward and go, see you at work! and so I look back at my text msgs and he says what do I think? and I respond, hey, you know what, its really flattering that you find me attractive, whatever, but you and I just friends, it will never be anything more, because I simply don't look at you like that, and so he was like ok fine, and I could tell he was kinda hurt because when I went to work with him the next there was just this awkward ass silence,but from then on, he never mentioned it again, or made any reference to me being gay and that he knows, I don't know, I don't really talk to him anymore because he works somewhere else now, just thought I'd share my "being chased by an older guy" story with you guys, but with him it was clearly more of a lust/ hit it and quit it kind of situation. he recently tried to do the same thing, I don't I haven't talked to him in 2years, and all of a sudden here he goes being all horny again and is like I'm coming over to see you, and its real late so I always turn my phone to almost silent so it doesn't disturb me when I'm laying down to sleep, and I wake up the next day with all these voicemails like hey I'm outside,and I'm like are you serious? I didn't let you fuck me the first, what makes you think he would this time? and I see a mutual friend of ours at the store and she's like, hey he went to your house trying to get himself a piece of man, and I was like yeah, I know, I saw all his msgs, and we kinda just laughed cuz I hadn't seen her in awhile and he was hanging with her again, high as hell wanting to do whatever he wanted to do with me. so that's it, I still haven't really talked to him since we don't work together anymore so I don't know......

As someone who just turned legal, i can probably vouch for CallMeHTD here, 40 is like a billion years from now , and the years of experience you have will equate to almost none for us. ( This kid kind of sounds like me, minus the red hair, so i'll just tell you what i would do.) since we are new to the scene, how much cruising do you think we have done? yeah, not much.
So if you are to forward with the kid, you'll just scare him off. But this you know. The part your wrong with assuming is "Boyz n men look at me and see fun, wild fun". Nahh this kid is probably just intimidated by you.
Anyways has he told you directly that he's gay? Did you over hear it? Or have you just seen him checking you out?
If he's told you (or hinted enough to make it obvious) that he's gay, then be more direct with your invitation, "Hay, you should come over some time "- or what ever your pick up line is.
If he's been passive and shy about it? Ask him when his shift ends, and offer to take him out for a drink. If you want to fuck this kid, he needs to warm up to you first. So may be you wont have sex the fist time you go out with him, but play the field.

A whole lot. I don't know about you, and I don't mean to brag, but I can get sex anytime I want to. For some strange reasons, and correct me if I'm wrong, but most people seems to like the innocence that comes with youth.

To me, I think, that's a blessing and a curse. There comes a time in your life that you're fed up hitting on people you've just met, and you want to find something real. One can only have too much sex.
