Advice? (Monogamy)

Great and thoughtful responses from everyone. Particularly Dereperez.

OP -

You make relationships sound like a prison. He's with YOU because he wants to be... not because he has to. I would imagine any adult that agrees to any committed relationship has weighed the pros and cons before hand. He's fully aware of what he is, or is not missing out on by being with you. He obviously thinks you're worth it.

... and believe it or not, not every gay guy wants to be out whoring every dick in town. Some are perfectly content to find their Mr. Right and live happily ever after. Don't believe the stereotype we're all insatiable cock whores.

This this this.

Don't try to think for your partner. If you are truly curious, talk about it.

COmmunication is the key here. You have to talk to him to find out what he truly thinks.

My fiancé and are are both 25, (I will be within a few weeks). We are not in to playing with anyone else and if you are both on the same page with that, then you guys should be OK

I would think that instead of talking to us here on the board, you should be talking to your boyfriend. Keep the lines or communication open, and address issues as they come up. You said you tried a threesome but it didn't work out. Did you two discuss the reasons why between yourselves? Monogamy isnt all bad (but isn't always the best choice), just as open relationships aren't all bad, but, like everything, things can go wrong with them.

If anyone is at all intereste in the resolution of this:

OK. We've decided to share a 19 year old bottom. Why? Because we want to. This is either relationship suicide or the bold opening of a new frontier.

Task completed. It was fun. Treating him as a sex toy pretty much cancelled any jealousy stuff from my end.

I give your relationship about 6 months max at this point. That was probably relationship Suicide

This isn't our first attempt at this. And it went well this time, anyway, we both come from stock that mates for life.

That doesn't mean you'll necessarily mate for life with each other.

We will. Logan and Noah. Like lungs and oxygen. We will last until death because we both hate any and everything that comes between us. Neither man, nor woman, beast, nor fowl, neither word, nor deed none of these things matter more than the fact of we two. We fit very nicely and neither of us particularly believes in the abandonment of hearth and home. No relationship is perfect, but Logan and I are good old fashioned 1820's style married--indissolubly united, forever, for better, or worse, in sickness, and in health, always, ceaselessly, inescapably yoked, knitted together, wedded, welded, until death (not until dislike, not until love goes, not until it's not fun anymore, not until I meet someone else, but until hearts stop beating eyes close and decomposition begins). The durability of *us* is our primary, governing, and guiding relationship principal. This marriage is to be ended by nought but the grave.

Better to think of us as nineteenth century British straight people than free twenty-first century American persons in this regard. Marriage if it means anything, in our value system, means forever and always.

Of course the threeway isn't quite old fashioned.

Though actually I remember reading a history of sex in victorian times and it wasn't entirely uncommon then either.

Just an aside: is that diaper rash on your avatar picture?

I read a court case, early paternity suit actually, where a man and his wife routinely brought their female servants to bed for something they called "second sleep"--which turned out to be like an actual thing. Servant girl got pregnant and in the face of a thousand years of legislation requiring the probable father of a child to support all his children born in or out of marriage husband and wife argued all the did during second sleep was make love to each other while the girl watched. The argument of course being that watching does not produce pregnancy. The girl claimed hubby gave wife laudanam (sp?) after making love with her and then had sex with her each night resulting in a son whose name was very Irish Catholic, but I've forgotten it. In the end the judge decided that it was most improbable that the wife slept through these events or could be induced to lie for a husband she knew to be an adulterer. So the duty of care for the child went to the sixteen year old son of a neighbor who was sure that "What I did couldn't have caused this or any other child."

When I tell my husband this story, like twice a month, he says "He went up the butt I bet."

tl;dr Yes, our ancestors were a strange lot.

Hopefully this doesn't make you bury all those unresolved issues under the rug.
