Hi all,

I've had a Dell PowerEdge 6650 in store for a while, and am currently working on returning it to full service.

Problem is that there is no soundcard on it at the moment... and no built-in sound either. Am I able to add a normal PCI sound card to it?

All help appreciated.. thanks, guys :)

 *confused* why would you want a soundcard in a server?

I know.. it's daft. But, I have limited space in my office and was hoping to use just one system to do all my work.

But, having said that, I could keep my normal (everyday use) system up and running and just run the server alongside it?

As two different machines - sure.

On one machine .. I wouldn't recommend it, but depending the servers tasks and load it could be an alternative.

Update:

Have now managed to re-fit the office, and arranged the systems into place. My everyday server is in the same place, but the new server (for business, and my internet radio broadcasting server) is now on the opposite side of the table.

Sound no longer an issue, and everything working smoothly! Many thanks for your help with this ;):-)

Well I didn't do anything  but it was my pleasure ;)

Corny: whilst you're here, I left a support ticket earlier... did it go through ok? The reason I ask is because I had a power failure earlier and lost some of my emails! lol

I'm sorry, the support tickets go to the office staff. But usually get an e-mail with a ticket number.
