Today I was with my new friend in the car and he says look at this, i look down thinking he was showing me the stains on the bottom of his pants leg and
he says no, right here, he was showing me a stain on the side of his crotch.
What the hell, is this st8 behavior? I tried twice not to look away and he was like
no look here. Anyway does this seem normal for a straight guy to bring
attention to his crotch. Nice bulge, but just didn't know what to think.
 
I don't think your friends actions were that outlandish or sexually driven. I think you're looking into the situation way too much.
 
If you honestly think he was flirting with you, flirt back. "Sorry I can't focus on that stain - something keeps distracting me." If he really wants something to happen, he'll let you know.

But my guess is there's nothing going on here.

Not that I'm an expert, but I agree. I think he would have made it much more obvious that he was after something.

If he keeps getting you to look in the direction of his crotch, or better yet touch it (and I'm hoping he wants you to...) then go for it!

Well last week Drew (who the guys met in STL) wanted me to feel his pants leg because he'd had Dr Pepper syrup explode onto them. And he's straight (although perhaps not st8?), so I think you're making too much of it. Perhaps he's just comfortable around you--or was enjoying making you uncomfortable.
