Good to see this thread back where it belongs. At least now we know where to find it!

hehe - Some people seem not to have realised that this thread is about the Australian Football League.

http://www.afl.com.au/

But - hey - if you want one about American Football - feel free to start it up! (Or let me know by PM if there is one out there that needs transferring back to the Sport Forum).

What does everyone think of the game to be played on the weekend i think its a bit of a joke and whish the 6 crows players playing weren't so they wouldent get injured
but one thing i must say its good to see our backline are highly rated and four of the back 6 will likely be crows with bass an emergency

What do I think..... :soapbox:

VIC vs Dream Team. A f**king joke. As far as I am concerned the VFL (sorry AFL) can stick this game up their clackers. A game for Victorians in Victoria with Victoria vs the rest of Aust to celebrate 150 years of Australian Football. Bull Shit.

Two senarios:

1. Victoria wins. "We're so good we beat the rest of the country"

2. Victoria loses. "We're so good It takes the entire country to team up and beat us"

I love footy but this whole concept stinks.

I will be showing my displeasure for this concept by not watching.

But I still want the Dream Team to win. Kick a Vic.

I'm also not happy about almost the entire Crows backline having to play this week. Still at least we play the Dees at home next week so it shouldn't matter.

Now I have calmed down this is how I think the AFL (not VFL) should have honoured 150 years of Australian Rules Football.

1 game in every state and territory across the country in a super round of Footy with the AFL organising events in all states.

Collingwood vs Carlton (VIC)
Adelaide vs Melbourne (SA)
Hawthorn vs Fremantle (TAS)
Westcoast vs Geelong (WA)
Pt Adelaide vs Western Bulldogs (NT)
Brisbane vs Saint Kilda (QLD)
Sydney vs Essendon (NSW)
Kangaroos vs Richmond (ACT)

One round, all teams, all players, all states. A true celebration of Australian Rules.

^ Good idea!! ..|

The AFL need to get off their stinky, capitalist arses and instead of giving a shit about the bottom line, give the fans what they want and bring back a true State of Origin series with most/all states featuring in it.

This Vic v Dream Team is a load of bullshit from Andrew Demoneybags!

..... This Vic v Dream Team is a load of bullshit from Andrew Demoneybags!
Couldn't agree more .... it's just a pathetic excuse for the Vics to parade the Big V guernsey once again.

But does that surprise anyone? I mean I'm from Victoria so I don't really see the big issue with that itself- I know flame me here if you will- but if you ignore that, money does walk in this competition.

After all, it's the reason why Demoneybags want's Western Sydney and the Gold Coast- everyone knows that Tasmania should be in there first, then maybe the Gold Coast (using the southpart sharks) and lastely West Sydney.

Hell, I woould even go as far as to say go to the Northern Territory and Tassie first. If you do, then the game becomes all about equality and a truely national game.

By the way- do any of the rugby codes have a team in Tassie or Northern Territory?

what a load of crap that was

what about that start of the telecast all vfl and afl what about sanfl or wafl what about some real SoO footage
i was a kid when the last soo game was played never got to see SA play :(

See the ugliest man in AFL got the DCM today.

Sorry John_W, Peverell of Essendon surpassed his own ugliness. He should have stopped taking those ugly pills years ago - they certainly worked. Just see how ugly he is look at the back page of today's Melbourne Herald Sun.

You can take the boy out of SA but you can't take SA out of the boy.

So how are we finding Season 2008 in the AFL?

I have enjoyed the season so far. Most games I have seen have been of good quality. I havn't seen a dreadful game .... yet.

How about the teams.

Geelong - on top/no losses - not surprised
Hawthorn - second/no losses yet - not surprised
Bulldogs - are they really that good?
Crows - a flattering draw that masks their true worth. Expect a mid/late season slide :didisay:
Sydney - a good side again this year
North Melbourne - no they are not that good
Collingwood - disappointing this year
Brisbane - on the way up
St Kilda - average - just as I thought they would be - Premiership Contenders my arse
Port Adelaide - out of the eight - right where the smears belong (*@*)
Carlton - slowly improving
Richmond - too slowly improving - doing well but can't bloody win
Essendon - shit coach shit team - what do you expect
Fremantle - too old - play the kids Christs sake Harvey - disappointing as coach
West Coast - bloody hell - I thought they'd fall but not that far
Melbourne - a four year prospect - give them time

Any comments or thoughts guys.

How have you seen the season so far?

This season hasn't been too bad- in terms of playing.

Like you said, my team the Maggies are very very disapointing, which I guess is to be expected in a way, with all the retirements at the end of last season.

Overrall, though, this seasion with Demoneybags in charge, has shown that at the end of the day it's all about the bottom line and not about the game.

At least the Hawks are going great- my friends will be pleased with that and hopefully they win the flag too.

Oh my God! How unbelievable was the Maggies win over the Cats! A brilliant game at the G it was- though it was absolutely freezing there and quite foggy.

It was a fantastic team effort from the boys- shows they can step up when they want to. And at least my favourite, Paul Medhurst, stepped up which is always brilliant.

I'm pissed off too as I didn't realise it, but I didn't put my tips in before the game last night- argh!

What is it with the Pies that they can play like that in big games, but play like shit in easy games.

I almost picked them as I thought the Cats were about to lose one, but did it have to be against bloody Collingwood. #-o

As for not putting in your tips shame on you. [-X

I know what you mean- we can bring our game to games such as last night, but for easy games we're screwed.

It's food for thought- I mean, if you look at it, last nights game shows that Collingwood can be a brilliant team; they used team work to their advantage and manage to apply pressure and shut them down. Yes we made errors, but unlike Geelong who did the same and couldn't make up for it, we could make up for our errors, even though it shouldn't have happened at all.

The next few games will be intresting for the Maggies- West Coast, Melbourne, Carlton.

As for my tips- I just hav to be "happy" that I only missed out on the one.](*,)

What a round of Footy.

Pies, Eagles, Roos, if only the Dees got up it would've made the top eight very interesting. I think there will be a big scramble for the eight this year.

Is it the loss the Cats had to have?

Will the Hawks now keep top spot for the rest of the season?

Who can beat the Hawks?

What about that bloody interchange infringement by the Eagles? That new rule is a joke. :bs:
The AFL made such a big deal about the teams knowing the rules they forgot to ensure the umpires knew the rules. Sure glad the Crows/Eagles game was not a close one or there would've been an almighty stink.
